Problems with rust in Seattle? May be moving there soon
Im curious as to how bad rust issues are up in Washington. I want to bring my rx up there and get a more "daily driver" friendly car to keep the rex a weekend toy. I was contemplating trying leasing if the rust is so bad a new car is rusted out in a few years anyways. What are the opinions of people who live there?

Rust is not a problem! Just watch out when they start throwing sand on the road. Down in the Portland/Vancouver area they dont clean the roads as much. So in a nutshell get a clear mask or bra for your car cause paint/rock chips is an issue.

agreed ive live in king county my entire life and never had a problem with rust except a little Hyundai that sat through 2 winters and even then it was just spots
but rock and sand is what you have to worry about oh yeah and old people ..... old people

Yeah the effects of the weather over here aren't felt nearly as much as they are on the east coast cuz like someone already said we use sand in the winters. Yeah it rains a lot and is humid, but unless you have exposed metal all over the car you're not gonna have much of a problem with rust up here

Only other concern is if you will be living on the sound or around salt water. I live on the Straights of Juan de fuca and have been told that stuff rusts quite a bit more....No problems yet though...
