NWR Event 3, BSCC Event 3 May 29-30
Sunday May 29th will be the SCCA North West Region Solo II event #3 in Bremerton, WA. I believe registration starts at 7:30A.M. for the morning run group. Also this day is the BSCC Practice day at Bremerton raceway as well. I will be going to this instead of the NWR event because I will get more runs and I can get other people to drive with me easier. May 30th is the BSCC Event #3, I will be going to this as well. I already have a co-driver for both days but anyone else wanting to attend with me is welcome.
If anyone else wants to go and is going the Tacoma Narrows bridge route through Gig Harbor to Bremerton we can all meet up somewhere right before the bridge or something.
Either day and especially the practice event would be a good day for anyone wanting to try out racing their car in a safe and fun environment. If anyone who has never done this before wants to come out and try this Kari or I will be willing to teach you the basics and ride or drive with you to make things comfortable and help you improve. Cost for practice events is usually around $20 per run group. Costs to drive in the events are usually $35 non-members, $30 SCCA Members, and $5 additional off for preregistering.

Tentative plan is too meet up at the Tacoma target right off I5 and highway 16 at 6:45A.M. and leave there by 7:00 A.M. for Bremerton for any interested both Sunday and Monday. I will be in my green 99 Miata. Address for target is 3320 S 23rd St , Tacoma, WA directions to Bremerton Raceway are here: http://www.wwscc.org/locations/bremerton.html
Morning session usually gets done around 1:00, there is a break for lunch, then afternoon session is usually done by 4:30-5:00.
Autocrossing is the easiest and cheapest way to get into racing. Nothing is required except that your car be in good running condition, your battery secured etc. A helmet is required, Snell M90 or newer rating, loaner helmets are available. If you want to try this but feel uncomfortable this is a good chance for you to go with some experienced people who will be willing to teach you the basics.
I usually bring food, water, umbrella, chairs, tools, cash, and my checkbook. Valid drivers license is also required and must be over 18. No reason to be worried about your car not doing good as this is just for fun and no one will care how bad you do.
Anyone wanting to please reply to this thread or send me a PM so I will know if I should wait for anybody.

After Sunday I don't think much of the people that ran the SCCA meet. Took my 7 year old son out to the track, had the release form filed out, was told that I needed two release forms (did'nt say that on their web site), was reluctantly let in the meet and my son and I were thrown out of the area with the cars and told to go stand in the middle of the grass field. (I had my arm around my son so he wasn't going anywhere and/or doing any harm.)
So much for a family fun race day!
