my ls3 fd build
Well I am bored tonight so I figure I will share my build thread with you guys...
I bought my fd about 4 years or so ago and blew the motor within 2 months. Took about a year to get it back on the road, I bought everything new for it from rotor housings to the engine harness. Drove it up to a Steve kan tune in Puyallup, I made 317 rwhp on the dyno dynamics. I put 11k on this set up and then wanted more power and a project. So doing the math after parting out the car and adding what I would have spent on a single turbo kit and all the goodies I found it was gonna be about the same as doing a v8 swap. I loved my rotary motor and will miss it, but this just makes more sense. So here I am just rolling over the hill with the project hope you guys enjoy the pics.
pulling the old motor.

the mess of parts I made

the start

Marc at fd3s was kind enough to go out of his way and pic this up for me, thanks Marc! 6.2L ls3 with 48 miles on it!

Cleaned my suspension with a pressure washer, I still had to pull them and scrub to get them clean

my new Samberg mounting kit

Had them powdercoated

Started stripping everything I didnt need

Had the engine bay painted by a friend of mine

to use the t56 trans with a ls3 you have to change the pilot bearing out to this smaller one, doesnt look like it fits but it actually sits further back in there.

Threw the motor in

motor mount shot

K&N carbon fiber intake

close up

Lots and lots of wiring to do, battery/fusebox/relay relocation in the works

I Have been rolling it outside to do under hood and dash wiring when the suns out since my garage isnt very well lit.

Thanks all for now I will update more on my next day off.

spent all day wiring and I am just about finished. I have to hook up the fuel pump, check engine light, and tach still. I am just happy to be done with relocating the fuse box and relay box.

installed a compression fitting on the stock fd line and ran this up to the 3/8 fuel rail on the motor.

I relocated my battery to the pass rear bin, I had a 0 gauge kit laying around from when I was a car audio installer so I used that.

I installed my alternator and bracket from a ctv-v so it sits low. still need to clean up the some engine harness. also I installed a starter from a gto, apparently you have to us a gto starter with a gto trans due to opening in the bellhousing.

I installed my corvette fuel filter/fpr and then threw the diff mount in.

I really cant wait to feel these brakes.

I am still waiting on my tranny to ship out. Headers should be shipping out tomorrow or Saturday. I am hoping to be done by next weekend but really just depends on what I run into.

Bosscobra: Sure, although it is not that fun haha.
Icemastr: Thanks I really like it, it does have some fitment issues I am still working out(hitting the hood a bit).
The motor with intake and exhaust should be around 430rwhp, so I am going to see how I like it and maybe later throw a cam in it down the road.

well i can either bring the harness and some beer up there or if your down for a trip to corvallis when the time comes i can pay for your gas, as well as food and drinks, its almost out of the car right now, at witch point ill remove what i feel comfortable with and then go from there, maybe get a parts list from you on what im going to need for relocation and combining the existing fuse/relay boxes, or finding an aftermarket one to replace them
