Mazda Grand Prix of Portland
We are inviting everyone to the Mazda Grand Prix of Portland, July 25-27, 2008 at Portland International Raceway.
We will be featuring a Star Mazda presented by Goodyear doubleheader, the Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup (complete with Playmate autograph sessions!), Formula Drift, and a regional Spec Miata doubleheader. But it doesn't stop there!
We have reached agreement with the Oregon Brewers Festival that we will have an on site (as in track side!) branch. Entry to the trackside version of the Oregon Brewers Festival is free with your race ticket. If you come from the waterfront version of the Oregon Brewers Festival, just show your armband at the gate and receive a discount on your race ticket (you can take MAX virtually door to door from the waterfront to PIR).
We are also inviting all car clubs, not just Mazda, to participate. We have discounted tickets and free parking passes for club members, as well as exclusive parking near the main straight. We will also offer RV parking with fantastic views of the track.
And since we won't have Champ Car this year, we decided to have some real fun. In what we are deeming "The Mosh Pit of Motorsports," we've added in the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup, Drag Racing, Road Racing Motorcycles, a Time Attack, and much more!
And did we mention? Only $15 per day! Between the ultra competitive racing, the microbrew festival, the variety, the location, the value, and the Playmates, we think we've got it covered. We'll see you there!
Please contact me here, via email, or PM for details on car clubs, time attack registration, or RV spaces. I'll post more information as tickets go on sale.

Brian, it was nice meeting and talking with you at the banquet.
When will you have registration available for the time trials?
Also, are the rules still going to be based off the Redline Time Attack car classification and safety rules (NASA)? http://www.redlinetimeattack.com/index-2.html
I would like to register for the event in advance if possible, 1993 Mazda RX-7 - RWD Street Class - Car number 9 or 95 if possible.
Thank you for doing this,
Adam

Hi Adam,
Thanks - we appreciated the time that you guys gave us. It turned out to be a really nice evening. It took me ages to find my damned car afterward, but it was a nice evening!
The Time Attack will go through Driving Sports. There is more information here,

Also, you can contact Ryan for more details; ryan@drivingsports.com

This sounds like a great opportunity to meet some owners and enjoy a day at the track.
If there will be drag racing - you may want to post on

Any more information on the racing us locals can compete in (drag racing, time attack)?
I'm out there regularly with the Police Interceptor (drag racing, HPDE) or Red RX-7 (drag racing, autocross).

Thanks for your interest, everyone! I just got back into town this morning, and I'm pretty bogged down in emails right now. I'll try to get back to each question as quickly as I can. In the meantime, our website is up and running!

Searching for 10th's

Here's how to get a pass for the Mazda Grand Prix.
Send an email to billwhite78@comcast.net requesting a pass.
Bill will keep track of the respondents, and send you a pass when he gets it.
The pass will be sent via email, so it's just something you can print out
and take with you to PIR.
This gets you in for $10 a person, a $5 discount.
It also allows you to park in the Car Corral for RPNW.
Here's the catch: we've requested room for 20 cars in the car corral.
1. first come, first serve
2. RPNW members have preference.
3. No beaters in the Car Corral.
You car doesn't have to be show quality, it just has to be presentable.
If it's a race car, well, "presentable" becomes a bit more subjective, as
they tend to be a bit rougher than street cars.
Indicate in your email that you would like to park in the car corral, and we
will keep track of who can park there.

I was thinking about running my E Prod RX-3 in the time attack, I have a feeling the car is going to be way to slow for the pro class. It does not look like it would fit in the modified class.
Has anyone run on the new configuration? What are your times? I have run twice this year, still sorting new front suspension and brakes, I am running low 1:28 laps.

Are you running in Portland Karting Association sanctioned event or when? I want to run my TAG out there. I used to race karts in PKA at PIR a long time ago. Would love to do it again.
