This last weekend I got to enter into the Wild West Rally based out of Pomeroy WA. I took my new (to me) 82 and tore it up. I learned a lot that weekend. Coming from an AWD car going to a RWD car it's a whole new world.

Over all we had a great weekend. Day one we were 9th overall out of 24, day 2 wasn't so good with some nasty nasty looking roads. Being my first weekend with it, i would have rather been slow then tore the bottom off my car.

I was only able to get one in car video, for some reason my recorder crapped out part way through the day.

very very cool man! That looks like way too much fun. I cant wait to get out there and do that!!! What is the diff of feeling between AWD and RWD? I am saving up to get a 02 impreza(my fav year) but i dont have any clue what its like to rally a AWD and the anticipation is killing me,lol...

But hell yeah man, loved the vid, pics look great, wish i could have been there to watch!!! Nice

really honestly awd got boring. i never had the power to make it exciting. and after watching videos and seeing pictures of myself racing i found myself attacking each corner like i was in a rwd drive car. which doesn't work to well in an awd car. guess it's all those years of growing up in trucks and rwd cars that got my mind set like that. so rather then fight it, go with it.

rwd is where it's at in rally. no i wont ever win, but i'll be having the most fun out there.

not really to talk about about the whole car. things are beefed up to take the abuse of rally. the engine is a 12a with a street port. msd direct fire, 105amp gm alternator, big ole webber, duel oil coolers. taller springs, bilstein shocks, tons of under side protection.

here's a pic of the under the hood. the air cleaner stuff is missing because i was cleaning up.

 

I've been watching WRC **** on tv lately, Crazy! 2009 WRC is on this sunday! Can't you run it without mufflers/exhaust? or is it already?

Always wanted to rally, but never wanted to f' up my car... This one time tried to in my 240sx, saw this big puddle and was like I can fly over that, ended up bottoming out in the front and f'ing up the oil pan and other ****... didn't do try that again...

it has an exhaust and muffler, how legal would they be if it was a DD is another question. but 2" header piping into 3" all the way to the back makes for a loud ride.

we just happen to have a db meter in the car on a transit, 96db cruising down the road. yeah it's a little loud.

 

This car is your DD?! Bwah ha ha! Thats just nuts...

My car with 3" Turbo back is ~96dB at WOT, if your that loud just crusing then woah. Earplugs?

Pomeroy is in the middle of nowhere. Interested in seeing more vids, are you going to do the Oregon Trail Rally, May 15-17?

no i said IF it was my DD i think i would be getting in a lot of trouble with the exhaust.

as for oregon trail rally, that was in may, like earlier this year. i did do that rally but in my old car.

 

Oh. My. Hell. Do you know that I sometimes wake up clutching in the sheets in 10 and 2 position as if they were the steering wheel, dreaming that I am doing exactly what is on your video? I'm not kidding.
