Despite the shops stating bullshit to upsell their stuff, Mazda still makes almost everything new. I just watched a local Corvallis member pay over $5000 for a used REW 13b... pineapple racing screws people over like this. They made a big deal about his motor having new housings. You can literally buy a brand new motor from Mazda for $4800 with new everything.
