infractions!!
So I got another ticket this morning takin my wife to work.$197 dollar ticket. So sick of driving a race engine with a welded diff for a dd. Fixing her jeep today, then 7 is in garage to stay. Gonna strip down to nothing. Going 100% drift car. Here's the plan:
Remove door glass and plexi rear window.
Remove all sound detining.(dry ice works great)
Make trap door for easy access to front diff mount.
Cut rear speaker towers.
Gut doors and t2 hood.
Prep for cage build.
Will post pics of build. Next yrs drift season starts in April. so I better get started. Plan on the only fc taking down the series.Any other tips on lightening up my fc please let me know. Thanx

Sounds like a good build. Any plans to revamp the motor? I'm still not sure if my FD will make it out for next season. I would love to get her out though and get some more practice cause I suck.....lol

Motor is a fresh n/a streetport engine. Not in a big rush on engine. Prolly get suspension all done then start building my first engine. Gonna do all porting myself too. Thanks to a couple dvds from Mazdatrix. I'm not anywhere wealthy so this will be a budget build until I can pick up some sponsors.

If there's anyone out there who wants to sponsor a die hard rotary fan let me know. Already took 2nd in my bone stock suspension at my second event ever. If anybody drifts out there they know that fc's are outta the box the worst drift cars ever!! So to podium against 35 240's lol, in stock form(besides 200hp+ motor) is a feat! I got a view vids I can post if anyone would like to see how I drift.

I saw race engine, then I saw NA, then I laughed. This kid sounds fun, I will bite. Post up those mad pro drifto skillz yo. Either I will be surprised or get a good laugh, both works for me.
Feeding trolls cures my boredom at work.Oh and 1MZFE: Saying it's a race engine, qualifies it as a race engine. Didn't you know a rotary won the Le Mans like 20 years ago? sheesh. Was so fast they had to ban it. He is not only running a race engine, he is running an illegal banned engine. He should be disqualified from his second place drifto finish and banned from wearing his tight girl pants in public.
Hi, I am Tweak.
I think your opinion of whats worthy of driving on the public roads is whats getting you tickets. A welded diff isn't a reliable or safe modification to a street driven car. But something tells me your ticket was for something more obvious.

O boy here we go. I knew Id get a couple of know it all's. It was a speeding ticket. I was crusin(not racing
at 37 in a 30. My wifes jeep broke down. Thats why I been driving the 7. It's my own fault for ticket. Shoulda been paying attention to speed. Now for as far as it being a race engine. It's Jus the bare minimum to make it run. Would never come close to smog req's. I didn't mean it was a actual documented Mazda Rolex series engine. Sorry I got ur hopes up.
and for makin 200 out of a n/a. Where the hell have u guys been? Ya its not easy or cheap. If u ever heard of Rob Lippolis motorsports down here in so.O. he build close to 300 HP na engines. He also works with Rb. Help developed the newest 4 port Port templates. He's Prolly a member to club. Anyways, I don't need any enemies on here or people who think they know it all. I know im no master tech on rotary. But I'm not a newbie dummy. Again, didn't mean to get ur hopes up. Anyways, id be happy to answer any more queations, no hard feelings I hope

No, definitely no hard feelings, always good to see another drifter, you just have a LOT to learn. A LOT. If you are serious about doing any motorsports with your 7 you need to just sit down and read the forums for a good couple months. You will also need to develop forum skills to be able to recognize BS as there is a lot of it on the club. Most of us have this skill finely tuned, and could tell in no seconds flat that you are either 1, a troll trying to cause problems, or 2 completely clueless.
In all fairness you may be a good drifter, and I am excited to see that, but the way you spewed out information like 200 hp, "race engine", getting a cage, trap doors for you diff mount, and all that jazz in your stock 7 made you sound like an idiot. Why say its a feat to have 200+ hp when you have not been dynoed or tuned and you have the bare minimum to keep the engine running? Why in gods name would you consider that a race engine? Do you have mazdaspeed competition oil springs? Unbreakable 1 piece apex seals? Why act and talk like that? I have met so many people that do that and it once it catches up to them, they just look foolish.
I realize you are new, I was once new too. I laugh at some of my first posts on this forum. I specifically remember sitting in the back of jenkins's yard at a local rotary meeting saying my next engine was going to be a 20B. (after going through 4 or 5 rotaries at the time) lol No clue.
I am saying this to help you, so take it how you want. You will get much better response in the forum not acting like a rotard fanboy, spewing out random race related words that your honda friends have said. For example, why are you on such a rampage to lose weight in your car? Cutting your rear speaker towers? Although weight reduction is good, other things should definitely be a priority for a drifter trying to get better. What did those strut towers do to you that you hate them so much? Suspension, bushings, angle mods, tires, and getting more than 155 rwhp will net you so much more longer and smokier drifts than dropping 300 lbs off your car. The stock FC angle is horrid, that would be one of the first things I would change after coilovers, but currently you do not have enough power to use (either of) them to their potential.
Congrats on your second place finish, I do want to see pictures and video of your car, you must have some decent talent if you are able to drive a stock 7 decent enough to complete at all. Where was this event at, I was pretty sure the event season was over. Settle down a bit, read up, learn a sheit ton, and become a better driver. Your 7 will love you for it.
We aren't know it alls, but a lot of the members on this forum, including quite a few in the NW sections, have a sheit kilo-ton of knowledge and experience. Use this to you advantage and soak up everything that isn't complete rotard bs.

P.S. I am NA also, but not street ported.
We should race sometime.

Well I'm not a troll for one.lol.and I don't see how any of those things wouldn't be on any drifters list to do. Drifting in any 2 rotor n/a is super rare. Jus too hard to make power for high speed 3rd and 4th gear drifts. So I know I'm underpowered. And I never said rwhp. Prolly should make myself clearer. My bad. But I'm not rich so I do what I can. If I have time to sit at home and collect unemployment. Then I'm gonna do what physical labor I can. Thats why I plan on cutting weight in off season. Car isn't completely stock as of now. Rb rse helped with body Roll and underteer. A welded diff also made sure I always have 2 wheels spinning. Stock lsd was trash. And some solid tranny mounts. My next buy is new knuckles for improved angle. And I recently cut springs too. And trust me I know that was stupid but it looked so dumb with new wheels at stock height. Didn't cut to much. So it not very bouncy. Like I said. Build on a budget. And its the drift evo series in so.Oregon. last event was Halloween. I took 2nd at stop 4 in grants pass.I joined this club to learn and learn only. Not to be critized. And I'm not trying to blow smoke up anybody's ***. So thanks for the input. Appreciate it.

Cool, as things start moving in your build you should definitely do a "build thread". I regret not doing any build threads of my own. I guess yours would just be a "cut and take apart thread."

And changing or pulling a diff on an fc is no cake walk. Some pull whole rear crossmember. That's why I want trap door. To get to those 2 diff front bolts. All these mods are my "takes no money mode"lol

It is much easier to drop the whole rear subframe next time. 4 bolts and the camber adjust bar (yours isn't adjustable) You would also need to unbolt your swaybar but most people with coilovers do not run a rear sway bar for drifting. With a weak NA I really doubt you are blowing new front diff mounts instantly. Just grab a competition mount, install a pinion snubber, and be done with it.

I tore my first one in half. I haven't tore another yet. And Jus because u have a v8 doesn't mean everything else is weak. I know I don't have a monster rotary or a cheater swap. But it gets the job done.
Tweak is right, how you came off saying that it is a "race' engine was kind of... odd. Because what you have done could be considered performance mods for sure, but doesn't make it a "race" engine.
Welcome to the forum, I read on here for over a year, and still was a newb on a lot of things even now 2 years later after still being active even.
There's a lot of asshat's here, I suggest staying out of the lounge unless you're wanting to be chewed out by how you even type "lol" or some bs. :p
Change out that suspension, and get rid of the DTSS for more predictability in drifting, and you should be better for drifting, or so I've been told. :p

I wasn't going to say it.
