Howdy Everybody...I'm New :)
Hey guys and gals. My name is Zach and I picked up a FD a couple weeks ago. I have been "lurking" the forum for a while now and decided to post and let you in on my story.
First I will tell you a little about my car. Its a 93' Touring with 70,000 original miles. The turbos were completly rebuilt 1,000 miles ago. The body is in great shape with only a ding on the fender and some rock chips on the front.
Now for the sad part...I was a genius and never got the car looked at before I bought it...you know how that goes...get so excited that you have to have it right then. The guy told me it was in great condition and all this blah blah blah. I met him three different times to drive it...but never got it from a cold start. When I finally did get it at a cold start (3 A.M. I work some funky hours at my job) it just started blowing smoke (oil and coolant) like crazy. I have never seen so much smoke come out in my life. So I had a flat bed take it too Mazda to get her checked out...my parents made me...Mazda didn't tell me anything just as I thought they would. "It needs a new engine." They were very helpful....ha.
The engine is now being rebuilt at Illtech in Tacoma, my buddy works there and is getting me some killer deals. Using Atkins parts along with the streeport that they offer. Its a spendy trip but she will be worth it! I should get her back next weekend.
Alright enough with the car. I am currently working full time at Harbor Wholesale in Tumwater, WA and I am going to start community college in the Winter.
I plan on being a very active member and am excited for all the information that I can learn from you guys. I would like to come up to the BBQ on the 28th, but I'm not sure if that is invite only or how it goes down.
Sorry if this was long and boring, but thanks for your time!

Welcome ^_^
It sure looks nice... I hope the rebuild goes well.
I haven't read the BBQ thread.. but usually everyone's welcome [I never make it because I'm too lazy to drive a couple hours for olympia/seattle area stuff..]

welcome to the club, the BBQ is for anyone and everyone thats wants to join us in the clubs. you can have anytype of mazda, or whatever i guess. just read the "BBQ august thread" and find out more info. the BBQ is on august 26th not the 28th.
I did buy it from a guy in Bellvue. His name is Dominic Adams, he works at the Mazda dealer but I bought it private party...I really don't care for the guy due to the fact that I kind of got ripped off and that Mazda and Illtech said that there was no way I could of blown it.

we compression tested the engine and it had 100 psi on each face, but it had some problems with the sequential control and wasnt boosting right....
This wont apply to anyone here, but I think it would be a good idea if from now on, when someone in the NW goes to buy an FD for the first time, they should take someone along that currently owns and has worked on FD's, just for a little backup, as it were. I know how dealers can be, and for new guys or guys looking to go from an FB/FC to an FD, it would probably make their purchase go smoother/safer.
Welcome, glad to see another person from the Olympia area.
Also Forsaken, it is kind of funny when you show up with a rotary. Their jaws usually drop if they are trying to hide something...kind of like an "oh ****" face.
Check out Nopistons.com as well. And Once a month we also meet at Izzy's here in Olympia.

yeah it scares the dealer when rotary experts show up!!
me and matt came ready with my compression tester and boost gauge!! haha he was shaking in his boots!
lol..
I think it's a good idea to bring someone more knowledable about the type of car you're buying..
For example: I brought along an ex-rotary guy when I bought my FC, whereas my cousin brought himself when he bought his CHEVY CALVILIER
