Fighting Speeding Tickets? Anyone Good At It?

Ok, so I got a ticket today for doing 30 in a 25. Lame. Anyway, I was thinking that since the speedo in my truck is off at least 5 MPH, that I could go somewhere like a shop and have it checked, and since they would obviously find that its wrong, I could tell the judge that I didnt know I was actually speeding. Anyone know of such a place? Could it work? Any advise? This ticket is really screwing me up right now since Im out of work, have bills I cant pay as it is, and Im trying to get into civilian law enforecement (military police now) and this is really gonna screw it up with my past driving record with the RX-7. I wouldve been 3 years without a ticket in November. I just really need this to go away, anyone have any ideas?

I used Felix Landau to get my 58 in a 35 dropped... no fuss, no muss. I've also heard that Mitch Green is very good.

well, if you do do that and have proof that your speedo if faulty. that would just prove you guilty. all the judge wants to know was wether or not you were going over the speed limit. he doesn't care why. my advice is to contest it. after you get a court date file for a request of discovery ( the officers notes). then from there you can do more. once you get that hit me up and i'll explain more options for you to go on beating it.

5 over in a 25 should be a $32 fine according to the IRLJ 6.2. (Infraction Rules for courts of Limited Jurisdiction), $64 in a school or work zone.
How much are they trying to hit you for?

I dont think that saying you have a defective speedometer is going to help as you are not required to have a speedometer, in a private vehicle, under state law.

Ha I just got off my negligent driving 2nd degree ticket with Stephen Schuman. He charges $200 for any ticket, even my neg 2nd degree ticket.

Man this guy is good! I took off peeling out and hit at least 70mph in a 35 right next to an undercover cop and I still got off the ticket.

That's because those lawyers that do this stuff every day find loop holes. My friend got out of rear ending someone on the freeway because the court filed 1 paper a day late, ticket got dropped.

These lawyers know the rules and regulations, and they just wait for a tiny mistake to be made and everything gets dropped.

Yeah, if I could go that route, I would, but seeing as I cant afford the $110 ticket, I cant afford a $300 lawyer, ya know?

I already used my deferred thing, and I dont think Im up for another one yet, so thats out...

I dont think Im gonna get out of this one. It just feels like everytime I start to move ahead, something bitch slaps me back.

I know the feeling, I went over 3 years with no tickets, got my record completely clean and clear, then I got a ticket from being clocked by a helicopter on the freeway... Welp, I'm going to court to fight it, hopefully I can figure something out.

Not related to the thread precisely...but I was curious if it was possible to have a lawyer get stuff that is already on your record dropped off?

Probably not, since you have already been proven as guilty it'd be pretty hard to get it off. You might be able to with some substantial evidence, court appeals, time, and money. Don't really think its plausible or worth the trouble, though.

How about 37 in a 35? I got that one because the cop had something against a young kid in an expensive SUV with loud music (I'm only guessing), yay for stereotyping.

I also got one for "not fully stopping at a stop sign" when the cop told me I was supposed to wait something like 3 or 4 seconds after fully rocking back before going again. Try it sometime, it's a fairly long time to sit there and I guarantee that 70% of drivers out there don't even do that 1/4 of the time. Oh yah, I was in the same vehicle.

Hence why I sold that stupid car

$23,000 brand new for a 16 year old isn't expensive? I'm talking an expensive car for a ******* 16 year old...

Then add on to that the fact that I put in another 10k for stereo alone, rims/tires, custom paint.... It became a target.

Something that the cops don't tell you is if they give you a ticket that was clocked by an aircraft you can request a flyby and thay have to do it. It dosen't really do you much good but gets the aircraft out of the loop for a few other people behind you. It leaglly wastes a bunch of there time, and keeps them out of other peoples hair for awhile

The reason I was speeding was because I was late for a tow appointment for my parts car, so I didn't really have time to dick around with the cop even if I knew about that or wanted to

Funny thing is the cop asked for ID, insurance, registration right? I hand him my ID and he walks off without my insurance and reg. He comes back and has me sign the ticket, and leaves. Never looked at my insurance or registration, and he wrote down my wrong god damned address on the ticket (I've moved and I have the change of address thing written on the back of my license). The cop must've been in a hurry too

but whats the fun in that? much funner beating the system than being a statistic. anyways, for those who don't know. at least 50% of the radar guns and or the tuning forks used to tune them in are out dated for specs. that would mean there is a 50% chance the ticket is wrong? so why pay for something that you don't deserve? hell, they say 90% of traffic tickets can be won. my last ticket i fought the tuning fork hasn't been recalibrated since sept. of 2002. you would think that they would keep up on thos things. but why should they, when 80% of the people just pay the damn fine.
