experience removing the front cover?

off a 13b-rew? My front cover gasket is blown out. I am going to replace it but i know there are a couple things that can go horribly wrong when i do this so if someone can come by and give me some tips so i dont ruin my engine i would appreciate it. Beer, food, whatever is on me. Thanks!

intake ducting off, i/c out, poss rad fan out depending on clearance, belts off, main pulley off, clutch in at all time from here until the main nut is re-installed, undo nut, pull off the hub(make sure key stays in), pry out old seal don't scratch anything. use a block of wood or a socket and tap new seal in, install hub and torque down(let of the clutch now) and then install is reverse of removal.

I dunno if I missed anything but this is just a quicky from the hip post so anyone please correct or add.......

I want to reinforce the KEEP THE CLUTCH IN WHEN THE MAIN NUT IS OFF! Well unless you enjoy eating needle bearings, then don't.

I am not sure on the REW, but on our motors (and my RE) you have to replace the oil passage crush ring (white) and the black o-ring. Well unless you enjoy low oil pressure, then don't! lol (People have got away with not replacing those, but I wouldn't risk it.)

so according to:
http://mazdatrix.com/faq/pulley.htm

You do not need to push in the clutch for the 3rd gen. Instead you "need to do something to wedge the flywheel forward"? What does that mean? The flywheel is attached to the engine...its not gonna go forward or backward. Sounds to me from their description that it needs to be kept from rotating...cant i just throw it in gear if thats the case?

Hmm well the reason for the wedge is to take up the end play slop for the motor and push it forward, thereby compressing the needle bearings.

I forgot that FD's are pull type clutches and you would be pulling the end play the wrong way...sorry man big oops.

Yeah do what mazdatrix says and you should be golden.

Yeup, I guess that makes sense for the REWs. That sucks.
