Cheapest Car You've Bought... (That runs)
Just picked this up, $20. Car runs, and drives. Made me wonder who else has gotten some absolutely amazing deals.

I have had about 300 cars so far, i think the cheapest one i got that was not free, was when i was 13 i got a 1986 Audi Q5000 for a dime bag of buds. The cheapest rx7 i have ever got that was running was a 1979 limited 2+2 from power chevy in stayton for 100.00... i cant remember how many free cars i have been given though, close to 150 i think..... Over 50 in the last year at least...lol

Haha... it was actually $20.
The story is it's from a buddy of mines from HS. He is in the Navy stationed up in Bremerton, and the tranny had issues, and the engine needs a little bit of work as well. He doesn't know mechanics so he can't fix it himself, and a shop up there quoted him $9,000 to fix it.
He let it sit for a year, and kept getting tickets from the cops about expired tags while it kept sitting there, so... he mainly was looking for a way to get rid of it.
He knew that I was learning more about mechanics, and had friends who could help me fix it even. So... I technically picked the whole car up for free. But to be nice, I paid for the uhaul trailer he rented to bring it down here.
Car drives just fine short distances, but the radiator leaks as well, so you have to keep filling up on coolant. It drove off the trailer, and into my lawn under it's own power.
Need to do a couple more mods to the engine, but it's almost up to Cobra spec he says, apparently the previous owner before him had put a lot of work into it, from the sound of the engine when it was running good, I don't doubt it.
True dual exhaust, straight pipe, no cats. hahaha

1983 RX-7 that sat and then didn't start, $50.
Poured some ATF in it, cranked it for a bit and it fired right up.
1991 Geo Prism, $190, put a starter in it(had one), and no issues.
Wife drove it for a year and then we sold it for $1000.
I'd imagine with metal prices in the toilet and the crappy economy, some good deals to be had at the auctions these days...

my first rx7 was a 1987 gsl manual everything and no moon roof. I bought it for 400 and all it needed was the radiator cap tightened and a couple brake calipers. so I fixed the overheating and replaced the rotors and had a lot of fun in it. now i have my second rx7 s5, on my way to turbo swap eventually.
