The $30 is not the issue, money is not the issue at all. It's the fact that you invest over an hour at time to go through tech, wait in an endless line up to race and rarely get to pick your opponent to satisfy personal challenges or grudges. God knows I could afford $30 for a safer place to race, it's just that the last time I raced at the track the wanted me to pull the center caps off my mags after witing in line for an hour and then all I got was 3 races. If any rain shows and you had at least 1 race, no rainchecks. Sucks to have a 14 second car, wanna race another 7 and get lined up agains a 11 second chevelle instead.
enough excuses.
complaining about the track wanting to follow the rules they have in place is useless. safety is why you're there. you need to realize that you have to comply with the rules before you go. I've built my car so it complies with every rule that I think is applicable, and I have no problem with making a change...... center caps are nothing, trust me.
if you have a question on the rules, get the latest copy of the NHRA rulebook its about $10 from the NHRA.
secondly if you plan on doing much racing at one track, they usually have an ETI (extended technical inspection) day at the beginning of the season, check with your local track. by going through ETI, they give you a heads-up on what you need to change to comply with all the rules, and you don't have as much to deal with at tech inspection each time you go.... they usually just ask you if you changed anything, & now they know your car when you show up... you usually get an ETI sticker too.
got any better ideas on how to make tech inspection go quicker? are you ready to help out? do you even know the rules?
getting run against better/faster cars? that's why you go on the street races, test/tune & grudge drags, you can usually pick who you run against.
when it's time-only runs before an actual bracket race, you run against who you run against, it doesn't matter, you're there to get a time. once you're in the brackets, it still doesn't matter, just run your race.... it's very likely that you're going to get aced by a better racer anyways.
rain... yes, sometimes it rains, & yes it sucks. but we all have to deal with it, watch the forecast before you go.
in summary.... it's nifty that you have a fast car. if you want to race it, race it in a safe environment- on a track or other closed course, get ready to comply with the rules BEFORE you go, & QUIT COMPLAINING....

Like those before me who have responded it's difficult to answer your question without knowing what city you were in. First thing you need to do is get a copy of the officer's report. Call the station where the officers were from and find out how you go about getting a copy. It is seperate from the ticket and will be a full report and what the officer is using as evidence to support his claim you broke the law. You can look up the state laws at
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/
if you were cited under a state law the rcw number is the law they are saying you broke. Read the law and see what evidence the officer listed to support his claim. There can be several parts of the law and each one must be met in order to say you are guilty. If the officer wrote a bad report you can attack it easily. If the officer was good the judge will believe his story over yours. "Officers are trained professionals at noticing and documenting illigal behavior." Whether that's true or not is totally up for debate but it's the reality.
If your court date is approaching get a continuance and get a copy of the report and take it from there.
Good Luck
