Tim: It is still up in the air. I hope to decide on a place in the next couple weeks.

Chris: I have not chosen a place yet. We did it at Horsepower Connection last time. It is really important to choose a good dyno. The reason that I chose Horsepower Connection was because they have steady state tuning available. It really makes the tuning process a lot quicker. Steve requires a eddy current dyno. Do you have drift offices contact information. Not to mention that the dyno at Horsepower Connection is cheap(85/hr)

Erik, Sounds good.

Hello. I am from yakima, but will be needing a tune soon also. I just have a few questions. How much about is this going to cost? And what EMS does he prefer?

Thank you.

(edit)
I just found this site.
http://forums.rotarytuner.com/stevekan/tuning.htm

and it says

Dyno Tuning Prices
$350 - Stock Turbo up to 12psi of boost (pump gas only) 1 map
$400 - Aftermarket Turbo up to 16psi of boost (pump gas only) 1 map
$450 - Aftermarket Turbo from 16psi - 25psi of boost (race gas and/or auxiliary injection only) 1 map
$600 - Aftermarket Turbo up to 25psi of boost (pump gas and race gas tune) 2 maps

On all tuning sessions there is a Non-refundable $200 deposit.

Time Frame
Stock Turbo - 45 mins - 1.5 hrs
Aftermarket Turbo (pump gas) 1hr - 2.5 hrs
Aftermarket Turbo (race gas and/or auxiliary injection) 2 - 4hrs
Aftermarket Turbo (2 maps) 3-6 hrs

So if we end up doing this, I will have to be in the Aftermarket Turbo (BNR stage 2) with Meth injection.

Thanks Ryan. I will contact them. Once I get a feel where people are coming from I will locate a place. I want it to be central to everyone.

Tweak; yes, those are his prices. Compare them locally, you will be surprised how much cheaper he is. Most places locally charge 400-3000 dollars. People who know me will get that joke My car was on the dyno for 1.5 hrs. Look up my last thread all the information should be in there. As for the EMS, he pretty much tunes anything under the sun. What do you have?

Take care,
Z

I'd be interested. Should have all my mods on by then. Just curious, but what does something like this cost?

Audie, take a look up a couple posts. Cost depends on your mods.

^Seth, I am confused with your post. Are you talking about Steve? When we brought him in we did not have to split his airfare, he covered that.

Next question....by the time this happens I'll have a Power FC installed. Anybody ever have a 2nd map set up strictly in an effort to pass emissions?

Interesting question. I don't know. I guess that I have never had to deal with that I am sure that Steve could do that. You want me to ask?

Also I got a PM from 3 other members looking to do it in April. What are the chances that you all would be ready.

dblboinger, I had Steve tune my car last summer when he was down in Portland and am running a Power FC. I just did an emissions test last Friday and the car passed without any issues. I'd bet that as long as you still have the majority of your emissions equipment on and operating properly (my only change has been replacement of the precat with a downpipe) you will probably be fine.

Keith... FYI, I'll be running 99 spec turbos with the Efini Y-pipe, Apexi intakes, Greddy FMIC, HKS down pipe, Bonez High-flow Cat and Apexi N1 catback along with the Power FC. Right now I have an EGR and purge valve related CEL, both of which will be corrected when I do the upgrade. My engine is a Pineapple Racing stock rebuild with about 10k and I'm also upgrading to an ACT lightened flywheel/street clutch. Think I might pass?

Funny to think that just a year ago I said this thing had enough power for me, bone stock. Wonder where I ever got that idea?????? It's great, dusting all these corporate weenies in their Porsches and BMW's. Did get my *** kicked by an A6 on 520, but judging from the appearance I doubt it was stock. Maybe that's what created the need.

Audie,

I would think that Steve would be able to give you some level of indication on how your car would meet the emissions test. For reference, my car has the original motor with a downpipe, the stock cat, a straight pipe exhaust, ASP medium intercooler and M2 intake. Steve tuned the car with two maps (12 lb and 10 lb I believe, truthfully I always run it with the 12 lb map). I was curious if it would have any problems passing emissions but and I figured I might have to do some quick swaps back if it had problems, fortunately it sailed through without problems.

An A6.... as in an Audi A6? It must have been a very, very highly tuned 2.7 turbo version. The 4.2L A6 doesn't have nearly the juice to take an RX7 even in stock configuration.

BTW, back to Steve and his tuning, I was extremely pleased with work. The driveability of the car is amazing after he gets done with it.

Yes, an Audi. It had a good amount of race stickers all over and judging from the way it ran I'd say it wasn't just for show. Really low and agressive look with a bright yellow roll-cage which I could only see because the window was down a bit. No telling what was under the hood. While he didn't flat run off from me I gotta give credit where it's due.

Thanks for the info on the tuning. I'm really anxious to see what I end up with after it's all said and done. My goal is a fairly modest 350 rwhp. Don't know if these mods will get me there, but if not I'llbe looking to the BNR Stage 3's next. Didn't do it this time because of the added expense of the fuel and ignition systems needed on top of the turbos. I'd say I would have been looking at another $4k-$5k. Definitely want to stay sequential though.

If you're in Redmond we should get together. I know of another red FD in Redmond too..met the guy at Ruby's at Redmond Towncenter about 6 mnths ago.

Steve said that he could do it in May. But three of the people want to do it in April. It sounds like we have a total of 8-9 people

fly him up twice!!!!!!

haha jk

I already am tuned by kan and haven't changed anything since he touched it in Octo. It would be really cool to hang around and watch him work his magic when ever this goes down though. Z it would be a cool opportunity for footy for the upcoming vid.

I am worried, that if we have 8-9 people there, all taking an hour or two to get their cars tuned, that we might run out of time. Is he willing to start at 8 in the morning, till 10 at night to tune our cars?? I would prefer that he not be in a rush myself. Is there a chance we can get him for a whole weekend?
