The autocross Volvo challenge. July 4th
Hey guys and gals,
I thought I would throw a little challenge out to all the seven drivers. I am going to be autocrossing my Volvo 850 wagon on july 4th at Bremerton. They are having a practice day starting at 8:00 am. I will buy any seven driver driving a seven, their dinner at the next Izzy's meet, if they can best my time in the Volvo on the course. Serioulsy if you are not doing anything Tuesday morning come out and get some driving in. I would love to see some of the Izzy's guys there. We are always looking for some event to do or some drive to go on., This is here just waiting for drivers to show up. Seriously if you show up, you going to eat for free at Izzy's, Its a Volvo Wagon,
Hope to see some of you there.

Woundup - I"ll bring the 7 and take you on - woo hoo, you're taking me out to dinner - well you would have anyway.
Everyone else - the offer stands the same if I"m driving. If your in your seven and you beat me in the Volvo - dinner's on me/woundup. If you beat me in your seven when I'm driving the seven, I"ll throw in a beer. You're not really scared of a girl driving a Volvo station wagon - are you? Don't let Dave scare you. It's just a 1995 850 T5, 4spd auto, FWD, 200,000 mile wagon.
Hyper4mance - you're right - very interesting - even I"m on here now.
Check out www.bscc.net for more info.

The tech run down is this. Battery must be secured, no bungees, positive terminal covered up with rubber or tape. Throttle return spring, All the lug nuts on the wheels, no lose suspension parts, No floor mats, spare tire must be secured, or removed, thats about 90% of it. The cost will be anywhere from 25 to 35 dollars, Dont worry about helmets that have loaners, Also this is a great event to attend if you have never autocrossed before, there should be instructors to sit in with you if want. Registration is from 7;30 to 8;30 am.
Check out www.bscc.net for more info. Hope to see you there.
Dave bring out the 2300 its a mazda.!

Too bad not one of you guys could make it to Bremerton for Woundup's Great Volvo challenge.
Just wanted to let you all know that you missed out on a great opportunity.
There were only like 25 cars there today, so we were able to get in many, many runs.
I had a blast out on the track!
Very Kewl track layout!
I was able to shave almost a full 9 seconds off of my starting time.
And yes Woundup will be buying my dinner at the next Izzy's meet.
The Turbo Brick held it's own and did have a couple impressive tire melting runs , but it was no match for the lighter RX-7.
Anyways, it sure would be nice to see more 7's representing at the autocross rather than at the streetraces.

Totally, you guys missed out, all day for $20 bucks, nearly three hours of racing. Volvo rocked a clean time of 68.272, it serioulsy overpowered the tires all day.
Karyn I believe had a clean time of 64.00 her seven looked really good out there, and I will gladly be buying her dinner at izzy's,
I drove my seven to a best of 62.191, I only drove it like five times, Because Michelle has not had much time behind the wheel of the seven. She kicked my butt out there, in my car, to boot. Thats ok I am getting better every week.
Big thanks to Karyn for making it out, Pontiac Solistice btw 2 seconds behind a Zo6 vette, same driver in both cars. Half the horespower, and half the price, and would destroy any 7 I have seen race this year. He ran 53 and change, in the pontiac, so horse power is a little over rated for autocrossing.
Have a safe fourth

Just to third what woundup and Karyn said, you all missed out, again.
THis is so much fun and such an adrenaline rush too. Plus, no tickets for racing or just watching. Best twenty bucks I've spent in a while.
I'm doing my best to represent rotary power and am now driving the seven. Got in tons of runs this time and some help from instructors too. I ran the Volvo once with an outstanding 74.xxx. The tires are now pretty much done.
Best clean run in the seven was a 60.4xx, but got a 59.7 scratch with two cones - still have a ways to go before I catch the solstice. Did one 360 and a 4wheel lock up and big slide (this one with Chris in the car); am finding out where my driving skills are lacking as the speed increases.
Once again, I strongly encourage all you to come out to try this at least once. It's a very good time and somewhat safe and easy on your car. You also don't have to worry about anyone else on the track hitting you since your racing times.
For the ladies in the club, if you're tempted you should do it, there is generally a pretty strong showing of women at these and some of the best female drivers in the nation are from our region.
Next event is August 13 - put it on your calendars
