Hey Kettleman,
Although I am a piston guy, i have noticed alot of problems with the rotory engines, in my dealings with them. They are not well suited for varying RPM's as they we designed as an airplane motor. But it would seem to me, that any shop dealing with them would just not even have a warrenty. Since the motors themselves are prone to failure. But i must agree as a bussiness owner myself, that if i have a warrenty, i would do well to stand by it, or expect to be out of bussiness very quickly. As I have read all your posts pertaining to this subject. I have to say I beleive that you presented your plight in a very concise, and objective way. In my oppinion your appology is completly unwarrented.
As most people make desisions based on either research or word of mouth, your post were no more then information dealing with first hand facts, and experiance. And anyone being offended by a free exchange of information, Needs to re-read the First Ammendment of the US constitution.
Futher more, a warrenty that excludes liability for any failure is not a warrenty at all. it would be like me rebuilding a guys engine and the warrenty reading that its covered unless it breaks, then its your problem, and as i have read the company in question's warrenty on they're webisite. This is pretty much the wording of they're warrenty.
But if you need some help i would be glad to come over and give you a hand. I realize i have been gone for a bit ( putting a new tranny together for my VR) but i would be more then happy to lend you a hand fixing your car.

Hey k-man, reading your original post I saw NOTHING to appologize for NOTHING. You were letting your opinion/feelings be known and from the others you mentioned and their problems you were justified.

Also, thank you for posting all that, I know now to staw away from them; too many people dealt with them and they had too many problems.

And see this is a opinion (opinion = words) not an action. So, if you read my post once more you will see that real men do apologize when they do (do is an action) something wrong like kill someones cat. But when someone says "your cat is ugly" that is an opinion and real men shouldn't go back on there word after 4 or 5 ppl were to respond back with an opposite opinion like "No man, that cat is cool looking". So, we do agree on Real men apologize for actions, but disagree on real men don't apologize for opions I guess.
I only partially agree with that. I am of the belief that words mean things and just because you have an opinion it doesn't give you license to say whatever you want wherever you want. Screaming 'God is Dead' in the middle of church may be you expressing your opinion but that doesn't mean that your expression is correct in the forum that you are presenting it. I am not saying that Kettleman is right or wrong in his posting here; IMHO I think he was right to post in the PNW forum. This is a forum for our group and if he had a problem then I think he has the right, possibly the obligation, to post his problems before someone runs in to the same problem later. My disagreement with you is philisophical, not topical.

Statements are never made in a vacuum, they are made for a reaction. Statements made in teh wrong place or at the wrong time can cause a reaction that can be intentional or unintentional. If the statement gets that unintentional reaction then there is no fault in saying 'I'm sorry that I made that statement here, it was in the wrong location'. That isn't apologizing for the opinion, only the context in which it was applied. I think this is what Kettleman is apologizing for; he has been convinced that his posting on this forum either was in the wrong place or was too vitriolic.

I don't agree with either, I thought Kettleman was rightly pissed and should have put out what happened. I think that Atkins failed to at least try to honor the contract placed before them by not even looking at the engine. Their refusal to even consider that they may have been at fault in the failure of the engine means to me that their warrenty isn't worth the paper it is written on. I was seriously considering sending my engine in for a rebuild in the near future but I won't send it to them precisely because of their warrenty policy.

Either give me a warrenty and stand by it or tell me right up front that you cannot warrenty my engine. Don't give me a worthless piece of paper and say that you won't honor the warrenty because you 'suspect' that I have been racing with the engine. I have no idea whether Kettleman raced it or not but the fact that Atkins instantly went to the 'you've been racing it' excuse without even at least looking at the engine shows really poor customer service.

Kettleman is CORRECT damnit!!!

IMHO, he posted in the correct place, if Atkins is based in the NW then he was from what it seems doing all of us a service as we all live in close proximity to their HQ and we'd be more enclined to send to/purchace from them. As it's only human nature to send our parts to a shop that is as close to home as possible.
