Anybody in the area have a half or full bridge?

I need to get a ride in an bridge ported rotary, NA, turbo, blue, pink, whatevers. I just lost my RE to a 4 layer coupler lol, so I am most likely going 1/2 bridge. Would like to know what I am getting myself into hehe.

Thanks

I've got an old school 13b that was bridge-ported. It was already ported when I got it.

They do have some power. The engine torqued itself so bad that it broke one of the studs that goes to the motor mount.

Plan on spending a grand or more for one (if you can find one).

Why half? Why not full? I did some research a while back and from what I heard you lose a bit of that low end torque either way.. Do you plan on boosting it?

Yea, he's urbo tarded. Search up on BDC's half bridge turbo cars. Amazing results with whicked fast turbo spool. If I build another turbo car it'll be a half bridge 4port13b.

Wait, so your engine physically sucked in an intercooler coupler? confused... Anyways, I'm actually in the process of dropping in a 1/2 bridge RE coupled to a Garrett T04z in my FC right now after cracking the rear iron on my last streetported S4 setup. Going to be the first 1/2 bridge I've seen in person/driven so I'm pretty curious as well. Sadly it will just be running on a BDC base map until he comes back into the area for a full tune, so no WOT action for a while.... yay for break-in time! I guess post back up if you find a ride and I'll live vicariously through you for a while

Well, I hope to be back and running with my new RE 1/2 bridge in 2-3 months. I will be having BDC come back out and tune both of us around that time. We can be bridge buddies...... hmmm... maybe not. lol.

I will be rocking a pt67, basically a t04r, so our tunes might be pretty dang close. If I remember correctly though, you have AI already?

iv only driven in one bridgeport 13bT and i loved and hated it. While it was probably the most smoothest instant power delivery iv ever experienced, especially when cruising. I hated everything about the car under 2800rpms. If i had a dedicated track car i would have loved to be in half or full bridge.

If i were in your position, id scrap the Bridgeport idea, sell the RE and go 20B streetport.

But good luck with the Bridgeport i am sure you will enjoy it. BTW tweak arn't you moving to western washington soon anyway?

Yeup yeup, I am moving to the Renton area soons. I would love to go 20b, but I think I would go bridge port 20b if I did lol. The fact is I can't find a reasonably priced 20b. My e11 could run it fine though.

There are many different types of bridge ports, small, big, fat, long, some that require you cut into the housing (almost like a j-port) and some that idle great when tuned correctly. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say a LOT of the negatives of bridge ports (such as the disliked most likely bucking under 2,800 rpm) can be fixed with a proper setup and tune. I have to ditch my light flywheel and go with a stock s5t2 heavy sucker, that will help a lot with the bucking. If the power comes on strong, hard, and smooth, that is all I want. I was completely happy with the power I was making with my street port, and I am somewhat leaning towards making my RE a more track only car. (I have a backup 7 to daily) It's just so hard to have a daily driver, drifter, autox, 300+ rwhp 7 lol. My girlfriend is really starting to get pissed with the 7 always breaking down. I never noticed till I started logging the things I do with the car, wow, I am working on it over 25 hours a week! That is was running well! lol.

Well, we (me and 2 much 4 u) will have to keep you up to date on bridgy land.

I would soooooooo be lsx right now, but this RE sp went so fast I didn't have time to find the required parts lol.

~Tweak

P.S. Depending on what broke in my RE (I am excited to crack it open and see) I will most likely be getting upgraded apex (ALS unbreakable bendable seals). Also I am for sure going to get my exhaust ported this time. Spooling my now small PT67 should be so easy.

ooo renton is not to far from me at all. I can relate to the gf thing when i had my TII she would complain about spending to much time and money on it only to break down a few months later. LOL. The bridged 7 that i drove was real big port probably on the wider end of a full bridge, i wasn't really able to get a good feel for the car and i couldn't really say I hate bridgeports because iv only driven one. So your right, the right type of port and tuned correctly might still have lots of low rpm driveability.

Only thing id say about your situation dude, just my opinion is this time around your in a scenario where you could go a lot of different routes with your engine. I would tell you to just be patient and get what you really ultimately wanted rather than getting the quickest nearest deal you can find. It seems you got yourself a daily already and you don't rely on that 7 to commute, so you can let it sit for a bit longer. Only reason why im sayin that is because im sure you have been wanting that LSX and when you look at your log and how much time you wasted you could have an LSX right now. Then start kickin yourself in the ***. (well i would anyway)

When you move to renton ill be sure to come by with some beers as a welcome present. XD

Lol awesome. Will be fun to finally get out of some of the worst places in WA. (Pullman and Yakima are horrid for anything car related, or any interesting hobby at all actually.) My drives to places of importance will become a lot shorter also.

As for waiting for what I really want .... I guess I have to say the old saying, there are many ways to skin a cat/skunk/chinchilla. I was completely happy with my SP RE, so I guess if I pull my engine apart and it's just a stupid coolant seal or something (I really doubt it) I will just fix it and slam it back together. Most likely I will have a cracked apex, and a busted housing, but ya never know till ya look.

I would love to just sit and wait, grab a nice ls9 or what ever they have now, slowly get all the parts, and get back on the track, buuuuuuutt I have A.D.D., and I JUST got the taste of power (my new nitto nt05s let me use all my power finally), a great suspension, (Just got my stance coilovers installed, not even aligned or corner weighted felt amazing), and two events on the track, (one drift one autox). Also I just installed my c02 powered boost controller (omg dead accurate), and the weather is getting nice, there is no way I can sit out this whole season while I fix all the problems of a freshly installed lsx install. WHEN my bridge or next build goes, (not if, I know it will go, just a matter of time), I will be ready for the lsx install. The car is completely ready to go, just needs a couple .... fresh... apex seals... hehe.

If there is a way to make a bridge port streetable, it will involve BDC. His porting, his tuning, and all his knowledge of his past bridges to make it successful. I am relying on him for almost everything.

No AI yet, but I DEFINITELY plan on having a kit installed before it comes time to tune. Before, I was planning on just having a pump gas map at around 16psi and a separate race gas map tuned until the turbo ran out of steam, but why waste money on race gas when methanol can get me to almost the same power level, is a fraction of the cost, cleans the my internals, and doesn't require me to bust out the laptop and switch maps. Guess I'll have to figure out something to do with the 20 gallons of VP Q16 sitting in my shed... maybe mix in a few gallons and tune it with the AI at ~30 pounds on the T04z? decisions decisions.....
