Any Local HKS Dealers???

I just picked up a new (used) wastegate and I'll need a new spring with the gaskets. I don't want to order them directly from HKS (I hate waiting for the damn mail) but if I have to I will.

So does anyone know of an authorized HKS dealer near the Seattle/Redmond Area?

Thanks
Joe

AFAIK the only one in WA is in tacoma. they are called turbo technology inc or something like that. if you look under authorized dealers on the HKS site it lists them.

Yeah I found them also. I was hoping for something a little closer. That is still mail territory for me unless I want to take an hours drive. Which may not be that bad.

Thanks

Just so you guys know, they dont stock very much stuff. so the best thing, woud be to call them and order what you want then once they get it in, drive and pick it up. That will only require 1 trip rather than 2.

I figured that may be the case. I've made that mistake a few time before. I always call first now.

I should just pay pal z-beater some money for my gasket and springs and meet him at Izzy's. J/K

I'll end up just ordering what I need after my wastegate comes. I was just hoping for something in my neighborhood.

Thanks

I called them and I'm having them pick up two new vacuum barbs along with the inlet gasket for the Standard HKS wastegate. This was late last week so I'm hoping I get a call that the parts are in later this week or early next. Then I can give them my bank info to pay for the deal and have them ship those items right out.

I'll keep you posted on the service.
I hate waiting for **** in the mail. Wasted time.

No problem, yet just hate waiting.

I didn't know they laid off the majority of their work force though. "I had differences with my ******* boss" just comes to mind.

Well I'm still waiting. I guess I give them them leeway being that it is the holiday season and they let go most of their employees.

I'll call them later this afternoon and see what they say.

*edit- well now that I'm thinking about it, its only been a week and a half or so you impatient bastard.*

Hey Joe,

Quick question for you. Do you know how the springs on the WG are identified. I really want to rip mine apart and check the spring. I know that I would have to buy a couple gaskets when this was done.

Does anyone know of a way that the spring can be checked without taking it apart?

They have different color paint on the spring, although you have to take the spring out to see it. Sometimes if you're lucky they mark the out side with the same color as the spring they installed and you can tell that way. But I don't have that luck.

I was under the impression that you didn't have to replace the gasket when you swap spring out, correct me if I'm wrong please?

And I don't know what colors equal what boost ranges, the HKS site doesn't help.

Any reason in particular you want to use HKS wastegates? Ive been discussing my single turbo setup I plan to do with robert at rotary shack for a little while now, and he perfered another brand of wastegate better. I have no clue what the brand was though, but he likes it enough to where he offeres a service to modify the HKS cast manifold to make the wastegate fit properly.

My primary reason for going with HKS was cost. I got it with a bunch of other parts that I needed so I could not pass it up.

As far as I know HKS is one of the better brands. People seem to be happy with them. You might be making note towards the Tial. People also seem to be really happy with that as well.

I have a 40mm WG. And I have heard both ways that it might not be big enough. Some say that their 40mm with the HKS cast manifold are great but others say that problems will occur. There are supposidly 2 fixes, 1 get a bigger WG or get a larger a/r wheel on the turbo. Neither are cheap fixes. I however plan to fun it and see if it works. If not then I will cross that road when I get there.

Joe, as far as I know you are supposed to replace the gasket. I cannot promise this though. I was just reading a thread and the reccomended that the gasket was replace. I am sure that all standard gasket rules still apply. If the material is in good condition then you are in the clear. But it is reccomended that you change it.

Tell you the truth I have not even been inside the WG yet.

Because I have a **** manifiold (ss auto whatever) and the standard HKS wastegate mounts directly up to it.

I do have in my hads two wastegates though. One is the 40mm standard HKS wastegate (used) and the other is a brand new 42mm or 44mm turbonetics racegate. The racegate has a different bolt pattern. Thats it.

Although when I pick up a new manifold (when the time comes) I may swap wastegates. I don't know though.

Rob is a good guy. Tell him I say Hi and I like my turbo. he sold me my 62-1. My SE however is still dead in the driveway. I do have a motor for it although I have no idea how to tune my webber. With the webber in its current state I think I'll pop another motor. oh sad.

I probably need to borrow more then just the book. I think I know enough just to cause damage. Hence the blown motor in the car now.

What I think happened was I couldn't ever get my fuel pressure low enough. I had it set at 4psi which I heard was about right. Maybe I needed a touch less. But I just kept getting a lot of fuel dripping out the float bowls. I adjust the floats and went with small jets and nothing helped.

The only thing I could do was make more gas come out of the floats. Never less. I went through mutiple intake manifold gaskets try to correct this.

So now I have a stock 12a pump and I see if that won't calm things down. The holley blue was too noisy and with the mallory FPR I just could not lower the pressure below 4psi.

But I'm pretty sure the float adjustment is way, way, way, way, off now after I've been mucking with it. I have a few versions of the emussion tubes, air correctors, idles jets and I think there is one more I'm leaving out.

I just need help and someone very knowledgable to take a look at it. I can't believe I've had more trouble with a carbed setup then I ever have had with any other.

Oh sorry Joe for hijacking this thread. hehe.

I ran mine at 4psi just fine. I used the stock SE fuel pump though.

I could get that thing running in no time joe, I just have no way to get over there at the moment
