2nd Annual Mt. Baker Meet & Cruise - September 8th 2007

Time to make plans for the 2nd annual ClubSi/NissanPacific/NASIOC Baker cruise put on by yours truly. Last year I think we had about 77 cars and I'm expecting a bigger turnout this year! I've read on forums and have been told by more then a handful of people that last year's cruise was the best they'd ever been on, so don't miss out.

Date & Time: Saturday, September 8th 2007 at 10:00 AM, RAIN OR SHINE

Meeting Place: Burlington, WA. Cascade Mall/Applebee's parking lot, the southeast corner, near Sears and Macys. To get there, head to Burlington. Coming north or south on I-5, you'll take Exit #230 and then an immediate right on SR20 - Go 3 blocks and make a right onto Burlington Blvd. Cascade Mall will be a few blocks down on your right:

General Info: Please be at the parking lot no later then 10:00 AM and pick up a map from me. A short "driver's meeting" will be held once everyone's arrived, then we will head out towards Baker by 10:30.
You'll want to bring:
•an extra layer of clothes, "just in case"
•a picnic lunch and plenty of water/drinks
•a Motorola Talkabout-style FRS radio that's capable of using security codes - we will be on channel 07, code 04.
•There may be a $5.00 per car fee payable to the National Forest Service when we arrive at Heather Meadows, so bring cash!

Rules: No overly aggressive driving will be tolerated - you will be asked to leave. That means NO DRIFTING. We're driving enthusiasts going on a spirited cruise, not millionaires on a Gumball rally.

Consider: Fuel past Bellingham is CRAP not to mention expensive. There is a Shell station in Maple Falls, but prices there are very expensive. There's a Chevron directly across from the Cascade Mall parking lot and you pass a Shell station at the intersection of SR20 and Burlington Boulevard just after you turn off I-5.

We'll all drive back and start splitting off whenever people have to head, but don't plan on being back in Burlington before 3pm. Some people have expressed interest in taking a detour on the way home and running the fabled, fun, twisty-yet-very-short Chuckanut Drive. Who knows... As long as everyone has fun, I'll be happy.

Official "Who's Coming list"
Derek "JDM EG6" Spoon'd out '00 EBP Civic Si
Dustin "Version D" Corolla GT-S
Isaac "backtrail69" as yet undecided BMW E30
Jay "Pacfwu" yellow Nismo S-tune 350Z
Joe “joe-z” '71 240Z
Marc "icsbnr32gtr" R32 GT-R with new turbos & lots of boost
Nate "Nate047" mega-sick EK hatch
Paul "OldSchoolBunta" STi
Ron "EFX" blue 350Z
Sam "SamuraiSam" SR-powered "Sil-eighty"
Zach "1985zcar" green Kouki S14

If you're planning on coming, please give me your real name and the make & model of what you'll be driving.
You can check the ClubSi event page for news and updates, and I'll see you on September 8th!

No, I probably will not be able to make it. When I was up there they were not all the way up to the top yet. They were right above mirror lake.

BTW, the first picture is awesome.

Wouldnt be a problem if all your cars weren't in the shop getting fixed :p. just kidding. Make a difference, come out and play.

The magazine is a big name that can be found at any newsstand, and it doesn't suck like Import Tuner or Super Street.

drive was a lot of fun, good routes. I was in second place out of all 100 plus cars following a nitrous'd 460hp FD for almost the whole drive, I was busy taking scenic pics of the mountains ect. and passed by at least 6 much much faster cars on one straight away, needless to say I had the slowest car at the whole event.

Turn out was incredible with numbers of cars exceeding the century mark, almost every make and model were present with a especially big turn out by the party crashers aka subie's hehe.

Leaving the summit was very racey in one word, since gravity was on my side and I could keep up with everyone. I chased two M3's (e36 and vert e46) all the way down the mountain reaching around 80mph at times around the curves and stayed step for step with them, the m3's and myself put about 40 seconds on the rest of the cars behind us before our progress came to a halt, with only one lane open while bridge work was being performed everyone was bunched up for a restart lol. Once out of the construction zone we started pushing our machines again, the m cars put quite a bit of distance on me in outright acceleration but I was closing the gap back up once the turns got sharper. The fb handeled the drive very nicely and I managed 305 miles to one tank of petrol while giving the 12a everything it could handel plus more.
Sorry for rambiling on and on but I wanted to shine a little light in for the people that missed this drive and how much fun it was. If you are a driving enthusiest and missed this years drive I recomend making plans to attend the next one. I look forward to next years drive and hope more people (mostly rx7) show up.

more pics
