shoot, did you not see the post about submitting pics? or do you have any even sweeter ones coming my way??

I wonder how many people knew that this FD:

is actually Sport Compact Car's former Project FD... with a "slightly" upgraded turbo system since it was sold.

Anyone know who the owner of the 'other' red FD was?

Not the one in the foreground with a FMIC, stock wing & OZ superleggras, the one in the background with a 99spec wing.

The owner of that car was a real ******* to me in the morning. I had a million things to think about, and my friend that I asked to monitor the spots that were being saved for the group leaders was off going to the bathroom. Guy in that car pulled in, and I ran over to him as he just started pulling into the spot - not halfway in yet -and asked him (very politely) if he would not park there, since I was saving that spot for the group leaders. His car was still running and he finished parking, and I asked him politely again, and he acknowledged but got out of his car. i didn't have time to do anything cause i had to run back to my car to hand out maps and answer questions.

so my friend Gary gets back from the bathroom, and I notice that car hadn't moved yet. I asked him to get that red FD moved and quick because Marc (one of my best friends and Group #1 leader no less) was almost there. so Gary went over and asked him to move, please. And Gary explained to this guy AGAIN that the spot was being saved for a group leader. The guy just ******* flat-out refused to move! Said something about "group leader? this is just a cruise" or some ****. What the ****?? So since we needed the spot open THEN because Marc had already arrived and was waiting to park. Gary told him to move the car to another parking spot (there's one RIGHT BEHIND YOU) or just get the **** out. So he finally pulled out and reparked about five seconds away.

If anyone knows who this guy is, tell him to read this post. If you are that guy, you should know that out of the over 150 people who came, you were the only person who was rude or disrespectful to me or my friends who went to a lot of trouble to organize this event, and you picked a real petty issue to be standoffish over. For what, 10 seconds to repark? I had PLENTY of **** to deal with without having out put up with crap from an unexpected ******* encounter. Unless you have a damn good excuse for your behavior, Please don't ever show up to any meet or drive that we put on ever again.

haha that was don, i was standing right there when all this went down, i remember the guy who got lippy with him but i didnt see you ask him, and yes lippy, there was no polite asking from what i saw but hey it dont matter, some one could have explained why he had to move other than just "hey move your car," because i mean it is a parking lot lol, oh and his car was shut off befor anyone even told him to move. i was standing right there man.

samurisam good job on setting it up again though and look forward to it next year

I, too, was right next to that Red FD, while all of this went down, if anyone was being rude, it was the person asking Don to move his car. They could have been a bit nicer in their methods of asking "Hey. Move your car!" Thats just not cool, especially when he just parked there.

I mean personally, I dont believe that there were any markings or anything anywhere, but thats just me.

But I think its prolly better that it wasnt me. I wouldnt have moved if I'd been approached like that.

Thanks for the compliments on the drive, but sorry, but you're wrong. Why would I come on here and just outright lie? I have no reason to. If you were really "standing right there when all this went down" then you would have seen exactly what I said in my post. I don't

The owner of that car was a real ******* to me in the morning. I had a million things to think about, and my friend that I asked to monitor the spots that were being saved for the group leaders was off going to the bathroom. Guy in that car pulled in, and I ran over to him before he was totally parked and asked him (very politely) if he would repark since I was saving that spot for the group leaders. His car was still running and he continued pulling into the spot then shut it off so he shut if off and I asked him politely again, and he acknowledged but got out of his car. i didnt have time to do anything cause i had to run back to my car to hand out maps and answer questions.

so my friend gets back from whatever, and I asked him to get that red FD moved and quick because Marc (one of my best friends and Group #1 leader no less) was almost there. so Gary went over and asked him to move, please. And Gary explained to this guy AGAIN that the spot was being saved for a group leader and please move. the guy just ******* refused to move! and said something about "group leader? this is just a cruise" or some ****. What the ****?? So since we needed the spot open THEN because Marc had already arrived and was sitting there waiting, Gary told him to either move the car or get the **** out of here. So he finally pulled out and reparked about five seconds away.
I don't think that I really owe anybody an explanation, but since you directly contradicted me, I don't want anybody to get the wrong idea about me or the way I conduct myself, so I will be more than happy to elaborate.

I was standing next to my car. Handing out maps and donuts and meeting people. I was the guy who gave the terrible 'pep talk' right before we left- the half asian kid in a maroon shirt that had an SMS patch on the left and my name, Sam, on the right. I saw the red FD heading north on the access rd next to the mall and then make a right turn. I saw two open spots, one of which I was saving for Marc, one of my best friends, one of the organizers of the drive, and the leader for group #1. Has definitely done more work to set up this cruise than anyone else except myself. You can be damn sure that I'll save his parking spot next to all the other group leaders.

So I had my friend Gary on patrol to make sure nobody parked in the spots, and he was away. I'm pretty sure he was in the bathroom. I realized this and set down the maps and ran over to the spot just as the red FD was pulling in next to Justin (rx7weee)'s black FD, which was next to shae's blue STi or mikey's red single turbo FD. (all group leaders). I ran over to the spot as he was less then 1/2 way in, waving my hands to stop. I tried yelling in the window and he looked at me as i yelled and then i stepped back and he continued pulling in, like I said. Once the car was off i put my head to the window again and asked VERY POLITELY for him to please move and explained VERY POLITELY that the spot was being saved for a group leader, and that's why I needed him to move. He said "yeah" or "sure" or something like that, and I thought the matter was taken care of. I made sure to THANK HIM for his cooperation, and then I walked away. I noticed him getting out of his car during all this and figured maybe he had to run to the bathroom really quick. Several minutes later was when I heard that Marc was in the lot, I looked over to the spot, and the red car was STILL ******* THERE.

If you saw him pull in, and did not see me run over with my arms waving, shove my head in before he parked, stand there and let him park, explain what I was asking of him AGAIN, POLITELY, and then walk away, and have him get out of his car COMPLETELY IGNORE THE VERY POLITE, SIMPLE REQUEST that I had made of him, I want to know what kind of ******' drugs you're on, man.

At this point I did not talk to that guy the rest of the event. I sent Gary over there to get him to move. At no point in my 1st post about this topic did I ever suggest that Gary asked him politely to leave. This is not baseball, there are no 3 strikes your out. I'm not trying to pull a power trip here, but when it comes down to it, this was [b]MY EVENT[b]. I am the one who worked hard to organize it, put in countless hours of time, spent my own money, drove the route the night before until 4:30 in the morning putting up signs and making sure the road was clear of any debris and roadkill just to ensure that everyone could have the best time possible on the drive. You get one chance, and after that, You can go **** yourself, because I don't have the time or desire to deal with that kind of bullshit. Gary told me he walked over and asked him in what he described as a very a stern voice to please move right away, and that Don was the one who "got lippy" and refused to move. After that, I completely support any amount of foul language that Gary may have used, and any and all actions he took in order to get that spot open, and I stated in my first post that Gary told him he could get the **** out. And I don't have a problem with that in the least. Like I said, you get one very politely stated chance, and after that, you're out.

Not only did I have a conversation with Gary about this just 2 days ago again, I have had several conversations with four or five of my friends who were also in the direct vicinity who overheard and saw the entire conversation, and they all corroborated my story and gary's story. Two of them said that I was much more polite then they personally would have been during my second round of explaining what I needed Don to do. I want to be crystal clear that my story is exactly what happened and I want it to be understood very clearly that Don was, in fact, asked very nicely by me to please re-park and was given more than ample time to simply move his car, and he completely flat out refused for no apparent reason. He was given a very clear, very nicely worded, very simple task, along with a very reasonable explanation of why he needed to move. His complete lack of respect for me and the other drive organizers is the sole reason that he was treated the way he was at the mall, and is being asked to never bother to show up at any of my events.

I feel that I have gone to great lengths to illustrate very truthfully exactly what happened with this entire situation from start to finish, and I did so because I don't want anybody to get the idea that I am over reacting. I was miffed at the situation, but now that I have been directly contradicted, I am pretty angry about this. I have explained this event again in detail and made sure to check with people who were there to make sure that I am not exaggerating this or trying to butter myself or Gary up. I feel that if I am able to communicate exactly what happened, then anybody who reads this, including Don, will understand why we took action like we did, and hopefully see our actions as justified, given the treatment that we received from Don.

I hope this sets the record straight for once and all regarding this matter.

Rotary-guy, please know that I'm not angry at you in the slightest, and i welcome the opportunity to fully explain my actions and the reasoning behind them. I look forward to seeing you on the cruise next year.

Well, I'm Gary, and just to add my .02 here, what I did was not rude in my mind. He was asked to move politely, and I was told to then go have him move. This is the conversation that I remember having: "Hey man, you need to move your car."
"Are you serious? For what?"
"We need to have all the group leaders park here."
"Group leaders? Really?"
"Yeah, really. Just move your car. If you don't want to move your car you can get the **** out."

This isn't really a big deal to me, but at the time I was pissed. My friends and I spent a lot of time on this drive, and to just be disrespected like that for no reason because you're too important to move your car kind of pissed me off. Regardless, I stand by what I said, but like I said this situation isn't that big of a deal to me, but I wanted to let you guys know what I remembered saying.

I saw that whole situation go down while I was talking to don, I didn't feel it was a big enough deal to call him out over the internet like what happened in the last few posts. I didn't see the first time he was asked to move but what gary said happened was all that I saw happened. He was told to move for the second time and he moved right away when the gtr showed up.

with very little drama.

i didnt intend for this post to be a huge drama fest. thats why i kept my first mention of that incident short and to the point. i do not know his username and before this post i didn't know his 1st name or i would have pm'd him or asked "does anybody know Don who came on the baker cruise and have an email address or phone number". in retrospect i should have done just that instead of post the short 1st story. i "tried" to be respectful in my first post and don't feel like i called him out, i just stated to not come on my cruises unless there was a good reason for what he did. i only made my second post in response to people who ONLY saw the 'harsh' side of us trying to get him to clear that spot and i wanted to just make it clear that there were several kindly-spoken, polite requests made before anyone had to get angry in order to get the job done .

really as things actually went down there was zero drama, quite a bit of disrespect shown, and a small amount of *******-ness, first from don, and then matched by us. it had to be done, and we tried other ways first.

sorry for making such a downer of a thread. let's put the past behind us and switch gears.

What were everybody's favorite cars on the cruise? What did everybody like most about the cruise? Least? Were the signs necessary or just redundant due to the group leaders? Would you be down for a structured drive back on an alternate route? How about a BBQ on the mountain? Ideas for any non-driving activities at the ski area? let me hear all your thoughts (i have already come up with good solutions for dealing with parking and seperate group organization next year and those can be found at the NASIOC forum here

Pics of the drive...

Hi all and thanks for the wonderful drive. It was my first and I really liked it. Next time I am there for sure.
the only thing I would like to add is, like SamuraiSam said before, to do a BBQ or some sort of eating "thing" up there while we look around the cars.
Here are some pics of the drive, hoping they show correctly since is the first time I post pictures here.
Take care...
Leo

this is a car that was not on the drive but I saw parked on the back of the shopping mall. It is a Lancia Fulvia Sport, very rare in the US.

I remember this day and honestly when i parked there I was out of my car and talking to my family and friends and by family I mean the 6 other cars that were with me and the other 5 from the Chop Shop. I was there for quite a while before come guy came by and was being a dick to me telling that I needed to move. You know honestly I would have moved regaurdless but when I asked why he was rude to me and told me to move agian being even more of a dick. Next be nicer and I would too.
