Unhappy where's my power

I have been trying to fix my 86 gxl forever, i have had to replace a broken diff. mount, and got into a war with a rat over my wires. Luckily my dog killed the rat before it got near the cpu, i just took the car out for the first time in nearly 2 years and i have no power after first gear, when i give it a little gas it is making this weird kinda popping noise, it does it through all the gears after that but doesn't seem to start until i shift out of first, but once it does when i down shift back into first it does it there to. wtf happend to my car? if anyone has any ideas please let me know, i am frustrated and can't even think of where to start

the popping sound is probably detonation. This is very bad for rotaries. I would make sure to recheck all things associated with timing/ignition system and also test your fuel pump for proper pressure and flow.

As you may know already the CAS is basically a distributor only it also tell the ecu when to fire the injectors as well as the ignition. The CAS being off a tooth can most definitely cause your problem. Check your timing with a timing light and then let us know what happens.
