welcome.

driver's side. toward the firewall. should be right on top.

you should probably download a copy of the FSM. it's a great reference for questions of this nature and will help get you acquainted with your car.

On my S5 N/A the oil filter is located on the driver's side, back from the oil filler neck almost against the firewall.

93 RX7 TT here and I'm pretty sure that a 13b auto manual or turbo / na will be in same spot am I wrong?

Driver side near firewall and on top within reach.

unless the previous owner moved it to another location (for some inexplicable reason), yes the oil filter will be on top of the right hand side of the rear side housing on all Mazda rotaries. i'm phrasing it this way simply because some of our brethren have RHD cars and obviously "driver's side" will then be incorrect.
