I've been reading alot of threads about premixing and folks takeing off the omp.i would rather run 2cycle oil also,but if it's only in your gas,seems to me like the majority of it would burn w/ the gas,so how do the bearings,ecc. shaft,stat.gears and side seals get lubed?why can't you put 2cycle in the same way as conventional oil and let the omp do the job?just trying to understand.

Honestly, I know this is the new user forum, but just search "premix".

The thing to remember is that there is a conventional sump-based oiling system which lubricates much of the engine. A pump moves oil through the block which lubricates all the major moving parts such as the eccentric, stationary bearings, rotor bearings, rotor thrust surfaces, etc.

The metering oil system draws up a small amount of oil from this system and injects it into both the intake stream and directly onto the apex seals. This oil lubricates the apex seals mostly, as well as the corner and side seals.

Going to premix means removing the metering oil system and mixing 2 stroke oil into the tank to lubricate the apex, side and corner seals. The conventional oiling system is unchanged.

There is only anecdotal evidence that premix may be better, and there is no point on a daily driver. Just make sure your metering oil system is working and you will be fine hundreds of thousands of miles.

typically those that premix have cars that never see street use(track only). others probably do it to think the rotary is a 2 stroke. IMO if the omp works leave it alone. if not, fix it.
