Whats the best stand alone

I am in the process of buying a stand alone engine management system, and my research has lead me to two, either the microtech or apexi fc. What is everyone else running. Does anyone know of any pros or cons to either system?

There is no best standalone. All of them have their own characteristics, both positive and negative. The best advice is to go with whatever system your tuner is most familiar with.

For FDs the PFC is very popular and gets excellent tuning support. There are definitely more elaborate systems out there, but the PFC arguably is the easiest to get going.

I agree with the others, find the experienced rotary tuner first and follow their recommendation. If you can't find a rotary tuner, keep looking. You don't want a piston-engine tuner learning to tune a rotary on your car.

Haltech E8 has a good rep.

I'm running a microtech and they are ok for the $ but they are not the best

Why do you need a stand alone at this point? I was at almost 500 hp on any of the cars I have built prior to using a stand alone. Will this be a track car only? Are you able to get the car retuned for multiple air temp/weather environments?

These are all things to consider before going to a full stand alone fuel management.

To answer your original question I have used both the AEM and Power FC. Both are capable and amazing. I prefer the AEM however because I am comfortable with it.

I'm going to be using AEM, I love the AEM in subarus, and the interface is very very easy to pick up.

Post a dyno chart of this, and I will believe you. There is no possible way you got ANYWHERE close to 500hp on a rotary engine without the use of a stand alone or a piggy back.

Why would the car need to be retuned when the weather changes?

500HP on any EFI rotary without a standalone is a risky thing to do. Yeah, it can be done but by the time you invest in all the piggyback hardware necessary to make it work, you're past the point of a good standalone.

I know for a fact Akunochi hasn't been closer to an rx-7 than the 3rd row in the movie theater at a Fast and the Furious movie.

What was the horsepower on your Evo (edit: Before it caught fire) Seth? 350HP?

Where's my $1000?
