What is this part of?

In this image (sry for lack of better pic showing circled area)
I need to know what the yellow part is a part of. it's where the headlights bolt onto etc... is it a part of what i circled in green? which is the upper radiator support?? is that what it's called? Cuz i recently crashed my car and that piece is all banged up, so the guy from the shop asked me to find that piece but i dont know what it's called or what it comes as part of. can anyone help me out here?

sad to hear that ya crashed it might be best to replace the front end if its mashed back that far in the car. Sometimes things that don't look bent are or you can't see that they are bent. I bet you could get the parts ya need off one at a junk yard even if they don't unbolt id bet they would cut the parts off for ya with a torch.

You can check out the body section of the parts fiche (link below). I suspect that the section you have indicated is part of the basic frame structure of the car. It should be in section 2 of 3 BODY pdf. It may be easier and cheaper to find that piece in a salvage yard. Purchasing from Mazda, assuming it is available, will probably cost you big bucks.

I had similar damage to mine in a front/right impact. Though, if you're body guy is asking what it is, I strongly suggest going elsewhere.

Check out page 4 on this...

It's a temp location until I get my site organized. But I think what you're looking for begins on the bottom of 4...

Support, Front :
FD01-53-150B

And the yellow would be:

Panel, Side Shroud:
L FD01-54-12XL
R FD01-53-12XL

Keep in mind I'm guessing as that pic isn't super descriptive. Let me see if I can't find my old worksheet that lists everything. If it has that P/N on there, then you'll be good to go.

My server is shot at the moment, but I'll post up a pic showing my damage. As you'll see, it's pretty similar.

That's interesting. The part is the same, but yours lists it as:

53-140A
53-140B

My repair list is here somewhere, but like many things me, I have no idea where it is.

Those are just the location codes. Once you pick the location code you still have to select the Mazda part number.

Gotcha...

To the OP, if you call up Malloy, Ray should be able to give you the info you need.

Malloy?

Nah it's not in that last posted pic, at least I can't really tell. Looks like its just a clean piece with the parts to bolt in the headlight assembly to. damn little bastard is the only part keeping me from fixing my FD right now!

I think it's 53-140B/A, isnt' it? Remember, the scale can be kinda wonky in these Mazda diagrams

I can now confirm that the part I had indicated is a part that was replaced (FD01-53-12XL)...and that is the correct P/N listed in the doc. The price I had for it was $177.55 at the time. This is the right side. I found my repair sheet and will scan and post it up for you.

Yeah My damage was similar maybe a bit worse and i got quoted 4,000 in dealer parts. obviously i took it upon myself to find everything cheaper but so far im still estimating about 3k in total repair cost. expensive little thing...

anywhos yeah that part is the one that the dealership kinda pointed me toward also. I guess I'll buy it... problem is that it's special order and if that's not it I can't return it... damn dealerships!!!
