what is this called inside the rear of the e shaft??

Ive been searching for a couple days and its really driving me crazy that i can find any info on this plug on the inside of the e shaft. The engine is a 1979 12a.I messed it up a little bit thinking i was being smart and trying to use a puller to remove the flywheel when all i needed to do was bang on it 3 times with a huge hammer...so my question is what is this plug called?what is it for and should i replace it or leave it alone?can oil leak from this plug?Thank,Pat

This is something new to me and I've never read on here where anyone has removed it. When rebuilding a first gen 12A rotary engine, I've never came across anyone that says they have messed with this.

A great resource for the factory service manuals is here: Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals

This rebuild criteria manual might help: http://www.foxed.ca/rx7manual/manual...ria%201979.pdf

I've never seen, nor ever heard, of the blind plug leaking.
