its the almost exact same car as mine. same year same package. the se is the lowest model of the rx7. the 13b was the engine that came in every single 2nd gen rx7. some were turbo some weren't. n/a are 6 port induction turbo are 4 port induction. is it easily turbo'd short answer is no a full swap is best option there are lots of turbo 13b's out there there were no n/a Japanese rx7's so there is plenty floating around. now don't get dicouraged. there are 6 port turbos out there. http://www.aaroncake.net/ aaroncake who is one of the most knowledgeable people on this site built one. or u can get lucky and fine a tii car with problems and get t for a steal. thing is there are 2 different series the one ur looking at is a series 4. and 89-91 are series 5's. plugs between the 2 are almost always different the only 1 i have seen thats the same so far is the cigarette lighter. before i keep rambling u might wanna check out and https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/frequently-asked-questions-2nd-generation-rx-7-faq-fc-494667/ also the rims on the se are some of the lightest 4 lug rims out there stupid light

If you want to go turbo you will have to basically swap in tons of stuff from a T2 with that car. It's not even a 5 lug non turbo.

do you think as my FIRST rx7 that this would be a good place to start and learn things though.
im not super worried about going turbo right away, i just dont want the na 13b to blow ****. i want a little pull you know?
i wont even have the means to go turbo for a while anyways.

so as far as this se goes is the 2500 well spent or should i keep looking?

Unless you are willing to travel, ignore what out-of-area folks tell you about price...that car is well priced for a RX here in CO.
The most expensive thing to fix is the body and that car looks pretty cherry.

All the things you might want to change down the road are cheap compared to bodywork.

Define "serious".
It'd take about two weeks to drop a V-8 in.

Car looks to be in excellent shape. It also looks like the guy may have known a thing or 2 about the Rx7, so it was probably well maintained. You could get this and probably have very little hassle (as a FIRST rotary car), or you could try to find a TII for the same price and end up with something that's going to quickly turn you off from buying another rotary powered vehicle. TII's that cheap generally get trashed, beaten, driven hard, put away wet.

I NEVER recommend modifying your DD. EVER! Buy a separate one to make fast.

Yes it is obvious you don't know anything about these cars or their engines.

That is why we have the "FAQ" section! Before you go and post questions like this that have been asked a 100 times over you do research! Now go off to the FAQ section and specifications threads and start reading all of the information so that you are familiar with the car and various models before you make a buying decision.

Have you see the car in person, driven it?
What do you drive now?
I'd be happy to lend my expertise- such as it is- when/if you view it.

NA's get little love around here and, although I understand the reasoning, I don't really agree.

Dont buy an N/A. Just wait for a Turbo II to pop up in your area. I owned 3 N/A's before I got my old turbo and have never looked back. You'll get bored with the power rather quickly and bolt ons will get you no where. Go turbo or go home.

as much as I hate to say it, that car is perfect for a V8 swap.

damn V-8 swappers..... lets not begin that argument again.

IF you are looking to start off getting to know rotary engines, and the beautiful and fun to drive cars that these are, then get it! That thing looks pretty freaking cherry, and a great price for the apparant condition.

IF you are looking for go fast, then its not for you. The N/A's are slow, but in saying that I also must say they are a hell of a lot easier to work on, and much more reliable. Hell those N/A motors will turn forever if they are maintained. These cars are incredibly fun to drive however and incredibly addictive. I would recommend anybody getting into rotaries for the first time to stay N/A until you know enough about the car to go turbo, with a turbo motor you will be under the hood / car a lot more often and getting the "know how" with a more forgiving version of the motor is preferable.

Be warned that if you get into these cars, or any old sports car for that matter, say goodbye to your pocketbook and your time.

You are correct about starting somewhere. If you had looked in the FAQ section you would not have asked the question- are they easily turbod or am i going to have to do a full swap. Don't BS me! It's not my first rodeo.

As far as opinions go. Well you know what they say!

My opinion nor anyone else on this site counts when push comes to shove. You are the one that has to be happy with your purchase. What one person may think a car is slow the other may believe it is fast and vice versus. The best thing to do is find some for sale in your area, then test drive them. Factual information is what counts here. That is what is posted in the FAQ and specifications threads.

....and here we are...

..in your correct part of the website. In the regular tech boards, you research massively first before posting a new thread. Here in the New Member tech board, this rule does not apply and you are allowed to ask just about anything. By its very nature, this board does not allow anyone replying in a thread to say, "Use the Search engine, noob!"

Please be more careful in the future...your screen name by itself almost made me pull the trigger and kill your account.

Thread moved from regular 2ndgen board, edited to remove nonsensical quotes when post was back-to-back to reply...

Well, you were either meaning STFrancisUribeBrian or you were lacking in imagination for a screen name.

Good luck on the 240. The conventional piston cars are easier to work on and cheaper on the wallet also.
