Wandering rx?

Hey all, My 89 gxl seems to be unstable while driving on the highway, trying to climb the ruts and swerve into the next lane. I put new tires on it, which actually made it worse for about 1000 miles. The car has 59000 miles on her. Any ideas what would cause this??

Thanks!
Jim

Make sure all the front end components are tight (tie rod ends, ball joints, bearings, etc.) and have the alignment checked.

These cars will follow the ruts a bit though.

Sounds like the only thing in need of fixing is the roads. Tracking the grooves in the road is pretty common. Doesn't hurt to have the front end gone over though.

The 215 60 15's probably don't help things either! It more then likely is the roads, or interstate, as it seems fine around town and on fast 2 lanes. The front end seems tight, but I already had to replace the wheel bearings due to galling from someone tightening the races WAY too much. Ill get it checked out. Any preferred alignment specs, or should I just let them do their thing?

Thanks again!
Jim

get the alignment checked. any steering related parts that need replacing will be found then. unless this is a track car, the factory specs r sufficient.
