FL Vacuum Leak Project Begins [suggestions?]

So I've had a problem with my FC Turbo ii for quite sometime with the idle never being steady. It doesn't fluctuate it just can't stay at a steady idle I had to rev it a little to stick it in advance so that it can idle better.

Anyway I've been told it's got to be a vacuum leak so my next days consist of no work so I'm taking the time to start looking for a leak. It's my first time taking apart a rotary so I'll try not to loose or do something stupid.

Do you guys have any advice for me since I'm removing the throttle body, intercooler (top mount) etc.

Tips, ideas, advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll hold off for a few and see if anyone can reply back with some tips.

I've searched for a few things but I just find diagrams and how to remove emissions etc. nothing specific to what I'm doing. If you know where there is a write on vacuum leaks I'd appreciate it.

Unless all the vacuum hoses look fairly new, the best approach is just to replace all of them with new silicone tubing. I didn't find a write-up, but it's pretty straightforward. Just do them one at a time. Pull one off, cut a piece of tubing to the same length & install it.

You can use the Mazdatrix Intake page (http://www.mazdatrix.com/intake.htm) as a guide how much of which sizes you will need. They also offer a pre-made vacuum 'spider' which simplifies things a bit.

A few other points to consider:
  • There are some unused vacuum ports with caps. A split cap could be your problem.
  • There are vacuum hoses to / from the fuel vapor recovery canister (at the passenger side firewall).
  • There is a vacuum line to the power brake booster.

Good luck.

The recovery canister one sounds like it might be my problem since it's there but it doesn't seem fully connected I'll have a look at it tomorrow.

Also, I ran into a problem. I took apart my throttle body to clean it up and even after all the pictures I tried to take to remember how to put it back together I've sadly failed at it. Do you know where their might be a diagram for it? I've tried with no luck.

Thanks!
