TurboII Issues, Is She Leaving Me?
Okay guys, just a recap, I got this 87 TurboII about 2 months ago. Has been running good besides hot start issues. I was told it was recently rebuilt when I bought it, and apparently has a streetport. All deletes have been done as well.
So today I noticed what sounded and felt like a misfire. Drove pretty normal but sounded off. Idle is now rough. Pulled the plugs and did a poor mans compression test, front rotor sounds healthy and even, rear had a slight uneven pulsing. One strong pulse then two less strong ones. But it wasn't a huge difference. I also discovered the last owner had the plugs in wrong. So I had some new NGKs and I put them in, trailing up top and leading on the bottom. Started it but no change-idle still bad. Drives normalish- but sounds off and broke up in 2nd at high Rpms.
I've also always had hot start issues and lately it seems my cold starts have gotten a little worse. I admit it seems like it may be an apex seal but I wanted to ask first. Figured it could also be a coil pack. Some possibly unrelated info: intake filter smells like fuel? Not coming from the mani, actually smells from the filter. Also, when I brought his car home it's fan stopped working and she got relatively warm, never seemed to cause an issue though once I got a good fan in. Figured I'd mention it.
So, is it safe to assume she's on her way out?
