Turbo oil restrictor

Should I be using an oil feed restrictor with my PT6766 journal bearing turbo?

I'd just check the MFG spec.. it's going to vary depending on the turbo.

Precision does not recommend using a restrictor on any of their journal bearing turbos. They say that only in rare cases when a turbo won't stop leaking or smoking to try one and to start with a .090" restrictor.

best bet is to call precision and tell them what turbo and what oil pressure you are running. They will be able to tell you for sure what you need.

Most likely you found your answer by now, jurnal bearing=no restrictor
ball bearing=restrictor
Make sure that the oil drain is big enough though.

even the stock hitachi turbos use a restrictor, in many cases i found that even journal bearing turbos needed a restrictor to bring the oil pressure down to keep the turbo(s) from guzzling oil.

so i don't agree with these assertions.

Dont use a restrictor , when you see smoke more than usual, take the down pipe off and look the turbine wheel. Call the manufacture and ask them. I did, thats why i dont have a restricto, but -3n feed line. If anything happens i will tell that i followed the instruction they provided. Lol
