turbo 2 rebuild ideas???

hey another question... i took the motor out... and i'm going to take it apart tomorrow... if its a 87 can i take out the air pump ? and make the motor allot simpler and run just the alternator ? and is it worth it to keep the stock turbo and just buy a turbo boost controller? any ideas on a nice rebuild let me know...

Depends on what you want out of the engine. The air pump can be removed, but you'll need a double alternator pulley to get enough belt contact on the water pump pulley. If you don't do this, the water pump will slip and you can develop cooling problems.

If you run up to about 12psi on the stock turbo (along with fuel & fuel control mods!), the most I've seen on dyno charts is ~260-270 RWHP or so. But most are lower than that.

Don't you have a daily driver? Just save up your money and take your time. The cheapest way to build a RX7 is to do it right the first time.
