turbo 2 rebuild ideas???

hey another question... i took the motor out... and i'm going to take it apart tomorrow... if its a 87 can i take out the air pump ? and make the motor allot simpler and run just the alternator ? and is it worth it to keep the stock turbo and just buy a turbo boost controller? any ideas on a nice rebuild let me know...

Depends on what you want out of the engine. The air pump can be removed, but you'll need a double alternator pulley to get enough belt contact on the water pump pulley. If you don't do this, the water pump will slip and you can develop cooling problems.

ok thanks.. and im thinking of street porting it... i already ported the throttle body... and if i run a boost controller on the stock turbo how good it that? im looking to make 300hp...

If you run up to about 12psi on the stock turbo (along with fuel & fuel control mods!), the most I've seen on dyno charts is ~260-270 RWHP or so. But most are lower than that.

i dont really have the money to fix this car right now... you know anyone with spare used rotors? apex seals 2mm? and i need a rotor housing... let me know some prices... thanks much appreciated...

Don't you have a daily driver? Just save up your money and take your time. The cheapest way to build a RX7 is to do it right the first time.
