I've been pondering the idea of putting a turbo on my car. How bad of an idea would it be to turbo my 1987 RX-7 Sport? It has 116,000 miles on the original engine (sat without being started from 2001-2011). I have driven it almost 1,000 miles since I got it running last year and it has performed flawlessly. Would the engine accept the boost (with a programmable ECU) or would it blow an apex seal or coolant seal? How much boost could I safely run?

Regardless of whether the engine will hold the boost, I don't think I'll tackle this. It would be a wiser decision to just leave it alone and get it street/bridge ported when I have to rebuild.
