Stripping Engine Bay
Hello everyone,
This is my first post (I apologize if it's in the wrong section!) and I'd like to start by stating that I'm not really mechanically minded. I recently bought an FC3S and have since disassembled some parts in order to rebuild it (I'm unsure of the quality of the seals, chambers, etc.) and to bridge-port it. I've had a look around the forums and can't seem to find a thread on the topic so I'd like to ask: does anybody have a method for *entirely* stripping the engine bay in a series 5 savannah? If it helps, it's a near-stock Japanese import that still has the original turbo and 13-b and was running at the time I purchased it. Happy to provide pictures if required, apologies if I've missed a post like this that already exists. Cheers!

Welcome to the forum.....but you're "not really mechanically minded" yet intend to attempt a major internal performance modification to the engine? I think I'd recommend getting or downloading a copy of the Factory Service Manual and starting with changing the oil, maybe changing spark plugs.
Hey mate, had a look at what's involved and have a few mates who own rotors & are happy to help out - looks like it's just a matter of getting a stencil for the port and then matching timing, boost, etc. (besides, always up for a challenge
)Do you know where I could find any diagrams with order of removal to the get to the engine? A/C, battery, oil filter already out just thought it'd be worth inquiring whether or not such a thing exists.

see if anything here can help. no real how to's on disassembly. make sure to pay attention how things come apart and where they go, take pix if u have to before removing something. i will usually thread bolts back in where they came from. keep stuff together that go together and label wiring to where they go. possibly use colored markers. anything that can help putting plugs back where they came. and as u said, u have people willing to help.

Thank-you Michael and Sgt, gonna get started tomorrow if the rain clears. After a bit more research, a street port is more practical for what I'd like and from the way people talk about them they sound a little less risky given my experience. I've gotta grab some stuff to replace the front-right caliper anyway so I'll get some markers and some spark plugs to mess around with while I'm out - baby steps. Wish me luck!

YouTube can be your friend, from rob dahm, speed academy, car throttle. The more builds, rebuilds, etc the better. You can catch some of their sporting and polishing.
I think mazdatrix sells stencils for porting, iirc.
Good luck!
