Strange Sputtering/Electrical Issue
Strange Sputtering/Electrical Issue
Since last week my 1988 FC has been having issues (Cars completely stock, under 90k miles on original engine) that I haven't been able to figure out and I need some help.
List of issues include:
Sputtering after the car has been warmed up and driven for a period of time
Won't turn over some times, doesn't even attempt to start up
Sometimes it will try to start up and fail, and I will have to pump the gas pedal to get it starting
Once it actually acted like it was getting no power when the gas pedal was pressed but it didn't stall the engine was still on and after a couple of seconds starting going again.
One minor thing I noticed is that the clock on the dash never really worked before but then started working all of a sudden, then just today it stopped again.
I've already tried a few things including:
Cleaned the air filter
Checked the battery
checked for stray wires on the drivers side in the cabin
I found one wire that was loose and took care of it, but no luck.
I've looked for answers and I even checked my Haynes Repair Manual and I can't find a solid answer. So if you guys have any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

I think I'm gonna check those next but this is what I've done so far:
Changed Spark Plugs
Replaced Air Flow Meter
After replacing the spark plugs the car started driving a little better but it was still hesitating and then there were some minor scraping noises coming from the engine bay. I'm worried about the engine now

Fuel filter are overlooked should be changed every 15k. Make sure that fuel pump is working properly as well. The 2nd Gen air flow meters are temperamental but you replaced that. Oh check your grounds too...
