VA Stop the Flooding!

one of the wonders of the Rotary
why do they flood so much? I need an answer from someone. My car floods atleast twice a day. It came with the switch wired to Fuel pump to switch it on and off.
Anybody know where I can buy some Polyeurthane bushings at? (front and back)

Compression sucks when you first start cranking, and it doesn't draw much air through, the ECU thinks OH ITS JUST COLD and dumps a cold-start amount of fuel in and it just floods.

You can buy bushings at sites like mazdatrix and racingbeat, there's a list of the sites around here on the forums.

Your car's injectors may be leaking. Check to see if they are. That could be the problem.

I'm sure there's a chip you could put on as a piggy-back, but there's nothing to mess with in the ECU without a soldering iron and a bucket full of parts.

The best(cheapest, simplest) way to do it is when you park it for the night, turn the fuel pump off and let it die from lack of fuel.
This forces the fuel pump to re-prime while the engine is cranking and it will supply the correct amount of fuel just long enough for the engine to start.

......
Impossible to tell over the internet why you're having a problem. Leaking injectors, poor compression, weak spark from worn coils, plugs, wires etc.....or a combination of one or more. And at least for the FD, the stock ECU was also set a little on the rich side for safety.
Rotary engines tend to be a little more prone to flooding. Attribute some of it from the shape of the combustion chamber, with a large surface area relative to the piston engine. Whenever I start my car for any reason...even just to back it out of the garage, I let it run for a few minutes and warm up.
If your issue is chronic there's something else going on. A healthy engine doesn't have THAT big of an issue.
And turning off the fuel pump is a ghetto fix...probably from the previous owner. That's what I would have called a "clue" when considering whether to buy it or not.
