My starter quit working while my daughter was driving it the other day. Fortunately it was only a block away and we were able to push it home! Would not do anything when I turned the key. Nothing. No clicks, no whirrs, no nothing! Next day I jacked it up, placed it on jack stands, disconnected the battery, slid underneath and removed one each original starter. Not bad for 24 years of service and 190K miles. Mazda service/parts says original is not available anymore. It now has an Autozone rebuilt starter. Wonder if I can expect the same life expectancy again?

Note: I am the original owner but could not remember if that had ever been replaced!

 

Not bad. What I think was the original starter in my car lasted about 120-140k miles. I put about 40k on a reman starter after that, so I would expect them to last a long time, as well.
