Unhappy Speedo cable dangling! do I need a new one?

Ok after much research on the forums and some quick unscrewing i found that my speedometer doesn't work because the cable isn't plugged into the tranny! But definitely plugged into the cluster. I have no idea if i should just plug it back in or if I should go get a new one. so I took two pictures for you guys to help me out. The previous owner seemed to have undone it or broken it and left it tucked into the frame underneath! I think I need a new one but not sure so if anyone has one to spare or could point me in the right direction that would be great!

Unhappy

I just noticed, if this was supposed to be plugged into the tranny does that mean my tranny has no fluid in it? And if so I should fill it up right away correct?.

it's missing the actual cable that goes inside that casing. that end screws onto the side of the tranny. no it didn't loose any oil.
