Spark Plugs

Okay so I own a 1991 Mazda Rx7 Turbo and today I went to go get some spark plugs and other stuff for the the car. The plugs that are on the car are fine but just got the car and wanted to go ahead and perform everything associated with a tune up cause the car hit 59,000 miles the other day. Anyways, come to find out, none of the stores in my area don't carry the NGK spark plugs Mazda recommends in the owners manual. They told me they are discontinued.
the leading plug number is BUR7EQ
the trailing plug number is BUR9EQ

If these are really not available anymore what plugs should I use? And why I'm at it what would you all recommend when it comes to wires and distributor?

They're not discontinued. The people at the stores in your area just don't know what they're talking about. They're available through parts stores like O'reilly's and others. Some places won't stock them, but they can order them from their warehouse.

Thanks. I thought it was weird they said they don't make them anymore. Guess they were wrong. It was funny too cause one of the stores I went to was pep boys and they didn't believe me that the car uses two types of plugs. That right there told me not to ever ask those guys for any type of advice on my car. I'm glad this forum is around, you guys seem to know just about everything about these cars. I'm quickly learning a lot from this forum alone.

I bought platinum plugs instead the other day. Question though, are the platinum plugs any better?

They'll last longer, but they also cost more.

The only reason I got them was because BapGeon didn't have anymore copper trailing plugs so the guy hooked me up with platinum plugs all around for the price of the copper ones. I lucked out I guess. I'm sure that won't happen again though.
