Exclamation Someone PLEASE help. major suspension & steering issues

Someone PLEASE help...89 turbo. I have major suspension & steering issues. Someone that works on my car recently pulled a prank on me & then told ppl he knows not to tell me whats wrong. I am not too mechanically educated outside of basic auto classes, so I dont know what exactly he did, or if it was multiple small things. I do know he had my car for about 2 hrs, but when I got my car back, the steering is completely off and possibly the handling as well, but because the steering is so off I cant really push it to find out if the handling is askew too. If it matters, I dont have power steering . when I drive the car I have 5-6 inches of steering wheel play from its normal tightness. what can be adjusted with the suspension/steering to do this? all suggestions appreciated! as detailed and why please. stock suspension besides aftermarket sway bars & racingbeat endlinks, full polyurethane bushing on whole car. please feel free to ask any questions if it will help figure this out. Thanks

With limited mechanical capability your best bet would be to tow it to a reputable repair shop and get it fixed. Then if you can get someone to corroborate your story take the SOB to small claims court and make him pay for the repairs and tow.

Did you ever get this resolved? I can't really think of any way to sabotage someone's steering to cause 5-6 inches of play, at least not without doing something really destructive.

I can suggest waterboarding the guy until he 'fesses up to what he did. ...Hey, it worked for Khalid Sheik Mohammad.

It would almost have to be something in the link from the steering wheel to the steering rack. Check to see if there is any play from when you turn the steering wheel to when the steering rack input shaft starts to turn. If the steering wheel is turning, but not the rack shaft, then the problem is upstream from the rack. If there is no play before the rack input shaft starts to turn, then you know it has something to do with the rack itself. I was hoping someone else had a better suggestion than I do.
