TX smoking Ideas?

I have a 1980 RX7 1st gen that is all stock. The car runs and starts great it just smokes white and does smell a bit like fuel(enough to see,but not pouring out). The plugs seem to foul out a little also. Any ideas where to start? I was told that my oil pump injector was turned all the way up...could this be my problem??? I got this car for my son and I think it maybe hard for him to pick up the ladies with the smoking!!! Thanks

If the linkage for the metering oil pump (MOP) is hung up and forcing the lever open at all times, you could see smoke from the excessive oil dripping into the engine.

Diagrams and info in the manual: http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/manuals/19...ubrication.pdf

Ok I read that document. It has a side note to drop the proper amount of clean oil in the carb when doing the test. What would the proper amount be while running the test and where and how should I drop it? Thanks

Sounds like you're on the right track, but if the problem turns out to be coolant going out the exhaust pipe, then shoot me a PM for advice.

I 've been reading up on white smokes on our rotaries car and found out that you were offering to help.

I have question on this issue, you time is greatly appreciated.
My motor was rebuilt 3 years ago. I do not drive it very much due to many problems just recently sorted out.
I have just found a vacuum leak in the vacuum line which remedy my idle bouncing night mare! I have never push my car hard due to all the problems. My car is running strong with higher vacuum reading after vacuum leaked fixed.
But, I have noticed excessive amount of white smoke out of tail pipe in the last 600 miles.

I changed an oil filter twice since the car had only 1000 miles since previous oil change. There were some white/coffee, creamy oil on my oil dipstick.
That must be from condensation build up, right? I use the carb fuel filter for an engine breather, was that the problem?

The white smokes are still there with an engine at idle, but less after another oil change with motor flushed. I even dumped 1/2 qt. of fresh motor oil to run down old /contaminated oil out twice! If it is the coolant seal, does it call for a tear down and rebuild?

Thank you

Dow

If the exhuast smells like coolant, then you could give the Alumaseal a shot. It works much better on 12a motors, but there have been some successes with 13b motors too. As long as the coolant is going out the tail pipe (rather than combustion gases being forced into the coolant system) then it should do the trick.
