sluggish up hills
sluggish up hills
hey guys i have an 88 vert, and i was seeing if anyone else thinks that there car is sluggish up hills, once i hit higher rpm range the car has no problem. i figured the motor is healthy since it doesnt smoke, idles awesome, starts up easily even in the winter, ive put about 5,000 miles on the car since i got it so it looks like 140,000 on the original motor. any ideas?

Uh..Verts are a heavy car and not considered a Torque monster..
Your car is acting normal for it's weight and the hills that it encounters.

My '91 vert is a little sluggish going up hills. Then I down shift...
Seriously, the extra 300+ pounds the convertible carries does make a big difference. I have to downshift more to accelerate out of the corners and go up hills my old coups would take with no problems in 5th.
I haven't pushed it hard enough to tell how much difference the torsional rigidity loss will affect cornering. (I've only owned it a week.)
We'll see.
