sitting for a while??

just got 2 cars that were sitting for a while (83 gs and gsl) . the previous owner said 6months looks from the grass around them like maybe 1-2 years. so im curious anything i should do special before trying to start them?

my plan is drain the oil, change the oil filter, fresh battery, check antifreeze level, drain the gas, refill with 2 gallons of fresh gas & add some 2 stroke oil to the gas (87 octane), check air box and check, clean or change the air filter.

i want to try and get them both running since i want to make the best car i can out of 1 of them ( gsl ).

Dump some seafoam down the carb holes and then turn the engine over BY HAND to make sure nothing is stuck. Other than that your list looks good.

It's geared toward 2nd gens, but the advice is the same.

update. got both cleaned up on the inside to see which was better or would be a quicker one to drive due to interior condition. at that point i decided to get the gsl totally up and going first so i went through the inside first got it all cleaned out and its not in bad shape.
electric works all over the car- windows, radio, lights, sunroof.
so knowing that and completing everything above in my list, including turning it by hand first.

it wont crank! i tried to start it and i here a bang/ click noise then nothing. i think the starter is frozen im planning to bang it with a hammer and if that doesn't work remove it.
the car is on blocks (since the wheels are missing) so its kind of hard to get to the starter- reason for this post-.
any other ideas if i cant get the starter out?
thanks
tom

well no pics but i got one running and the other seems to crank slowly. even with the plugs out and the a/c belt removed.
the gsl was the one i got running and then the fuel pump went out.

update

i got the black 85 gsl running. took the carb off and cleaned it out- man it was full of white junk that looked like grease. stuck it back on with the old gasket set since i didnt have a new one yet. started right up and idled with the joke on. choke off it stalled out. figured its the gaskets. got the rebuild kit form autozone today and plan to tare into it again tomorrow.
unfortunately i did have 1 issue; the cat clogged up during initial idling runs. i opened up the pipe just prior to it and its LOUD but runs great. the neighbors didnt car for it much but i got to tool around in it. and it was fun. all the electronics work and my sunroof works too!.

do to a suggestion i received i removed all the emission's to see f it would idle better but no luck on that. it did however make it much simpler to get the carb on and off.
