Should I take it here for a rebuild or buy this?

Should I take it here for a rebuild or buy this?

So I have two options, I can either buy http://www.tigerjapanese.com/index.p...id=26&vmcchk=1 , or I can take it to the Rotary Doctor in Neosho, Missouri. The Doc said I'd be paying $2350 for all new apex seals, side seals, corner seals, Viton oil control O-Rings, and all springs replaced. New front and rear oil seals, Pilot shaft bearing, and seal (for manual transmission cars only), eccentric shaft replacement thermal pellet, all internal coolant seals, gaskets and tension bolt o-rings. This will also include a new rear rotor and rear rotor housing which is the main reason for the rebuild. The Doc also has a 2 year unlimited mile warranty. I think the doc is the best deal correct?

Tiger sells used j-spec engines. They are a crapshoot unless you are there to personally inspect the engine and know what to look for.

If you can get a rebuild from a reliable vendor with a warranty for $2K, I'd go with that over the j-spec unless you can inspect before purchase.

definitely wouldnt be able to inspect the j-spec, but I have been told from alot of people that the Doc is the best in Missouri definitely. Been doing it for 15 years and I haven't heard a bad thing about him. Im willing to spend an extra grand on a great job over an ok one when it comes to my engine

As said above, tiger is not a good idea.
They have a history of selling garbage.

I'd go with the Doc. Kinda hard trusting used rotary engines and the condition it previously went threw..

yes agreed, rebuild the engine. after all you will end up with a fresh engine vs the used and unexpected j-spec one. ^_^

I agree, I just hope after it is rebuilt and I put it in, there isn't a problem still unfixed that caused the initial damage. I would hate to have it blow out again on me because of come compression ratio being off due to the turbo malfunctioning or some nonsense haha
