IL secondary air pump removel question

hello iam new to rx7 club i just go a 89 fc n/a vert and i want to remove the secondary air pump (has no cat and a cone air filter) the vacuum line goes to the air pump then it goes in to the air control valve then to the cat

so if i remove the air pump is it ok the have the vacuum leak at the air control valve or can i remove the acv all together

thanks jake

Do not remove the air pump on an S5 NA. The air pump supplies pressure for the aux. port (6PI) and VDI actuators. Together these systems are responsible for about 40HP.

This page has info (from the FSMs) on the aux. port system for both S4s and S5s. The VDI actuator is controlled similarly. The ECU energizes a solenoid, which directs air pressure to the actuator. http://mazdarx7.iougs.com/intakeair.shtml

You can remove the hose to the split air pipe (from the ACV). Just don't remove the ACV itself; it has a nipple on it that directs air from the pump to the 6PI/VDI actuators.

Without a chipped ECU, removing the OMP puts the engine into limp mode.

On a side-note.... it will help in the future not to post paragraph length sentences, and to use appropriate punctuation. If you move to some sections of this forum, knowledgable members might not bother to decipher and just ignore them. That decreases your chances of getting good answers like above.
