SC Direct Fire 1st Gen

I am planning on converting to a direct fire ignition this summer using the MSD-direct fire method. (CDI firing leading plugs silmutaneously) Instead of the MSD unit, I was considering building a homemade CDI based on a design in Silicon Chip magazine. The only problem is that the SC ignition has a longer set of multiple sparks than the MSD. It fires through up to 24 degrees of rotation, while the MSD fires through approx. 12. Would this work in a direct-fire set-up, or would the increased spark duration continue into the wrong cycle?
