Sa 79RX7 seeking advice on suspension/brakes
Aubrey here, need advice on stopping and handling upgrades for my 79 RX7. Any rear disk conversion available? Is a 5 lug upgrade needed or not? How about coilovers? Anyone make them? Hard to find info on my own. Any help? Car has a good many performance upgrades including 13b6 port swap. Need to stop and turn better now.

You can swap the rear axle from a GSL-SE, giving you LSD and disc brakes. Not sure about the driveshaft off hand, you probably need the one from the SE. Master cylinder will need to be changed as well as the proportioning valve.
5 lug swap isn't necessary though it gives you a lot of wheel choices. It's also non-trivial, since 1st gens were never 5 lug.
Hit up any of the vendors (Mazdatrix, Racing Beat, RX7 Store, Mariah) to see the suspension options. Everything from slightly upgraded shocks/springs to full coil over setups. Also urethane bushings, etc.

Thanks aaron, looking at doing a time attack style set up. I found some parts on here but don't have enough post to reply yet. Do you know if body parts off a 85 will fit my 79? I've only had my car since September and haven't had chance to do any research cause I been on 6/10's for a while. Hate to sound like a total newbie but never been into Rx7's till now.

If you are still interested I may have the parts for rear disk as well as some SA parts. If you are interested in doing the 5 lug conversion you can check out a company called ReSpeed, they make adapter plates to put TII brakes on 1st gens.
