s5 turbo in a s4 vert
Ok IM new here so.. yeah this summer i want to put in a turbo s5 motor in my convertible s4. and want to know if there are any modifications i need to do to turbo ready my car.. and i have a fmic and i need the proper piping. for it. if anyone knows where to find it..
Also. any ideas how fast it would be?? i will be street porting and bridging the s5 motor. so i want an idea of how much power it will make. and what a convertible will do in a 1/4 mile. with those kinds of mods..
any and all help is greatly appreciated

This will get you started:
1. Read the 2nd gen FAQ sticky.
2. Search "s4 s5 swap".
3. Search "bridgeport".
Lots of reading and it will answer probably all of your question. Cross series swaps are a major pain.

As Aaron said, read read read, then read some more.
Unfortunately you picked one of if not the heaviest 7 produced to drag race and, fwiw, all verts sold in Japan were turbos.
How fast it will be depends on how big your wallet is. You can put something together that does 14's in the 1/4 or go nuts and build a 600 hp 10 second car. An S4 TII swap is somewhat easier. You need the entire TII drivetrain from the engine to the half shafts. Do lots of reading on porting, while a bridgeport sounds cool, brap brap brap, they aren't that much fun to drive on the street, ask me how I know, lol. The following link is to my 1st gen widebody build. I haven't updated that thread for some rime but it may give you some semblence of the work needed. I still need at least $4k for my TII install, even tough I have many of the parts already.

Don't limit your reading to just the 2nd gen section. Read through the Race Car Tech section, the Single Turbo section and the Engine Management section. That may give you an idea of how big your wallet should be along with some of the mods needed for certain ET goals
If you haven't found the online FSMs yet, the following link will get you there.

If this is going to be a drag car only (as in no street use) you may want to seriously reconsider the chassis you picked. As was already mentioned, verts are heavier.
The other thing to do would be to check with your local drag strip to see if they even allow convertibles to run without roll protection. Here in Wisconsin, there is one drag strip in the state that allows convertibles without a cage. The other strips only allow convertibles with certified roll cages installed to make passes. Keep in mind that only 1 county in Wisconsin even emissions test vehicles. I would assume there are even stricter rules and regulations (and more lawsuit-happy people) in Nevada. The cost of having a certifiable roll cage built in your car will be more than buying a motor & everything else for your turbo swap, guaranteed.

Sure it does. The best you are ever going to get out of that NA engine, without radical porting like a bridge, is 200HP under ideal conditions. A stock S5 TII makes 200HP and is lighter then your S4 'Vert. Put an exhaust and intake on the TII and it's now making 260HP.

thats what you would think but im running full stand alone and just with the stand alone i was putting down almost 200hp after my port work and upgrading my exhaust and intake changed to T2 rotors and im putting over 260hp to the wheels
