s5 6 port help

What causes the extra 2 ports to open in an 91 rx and is there any way to make them open earlier

The aux. ports are controlled by an ECU-actuated solenoid. You do not want to open them sooner, as that would just mean losing bottom-end torque. They open at the correct time already.

so the smog pump has nothin to do with the extra ports and can i delete it or does it have an important function

No, you can't remove it. The solenoid I mentioned directs air pressure to the aux. port actuators, and this comes from the air pump. If you remove the air pump, you immediately lose a LOT of power since the 6PI and VDI systems will stop working.

There's an S5 diagram on this page: http://mazdarx7.iougs.com/intakeair.shtml, and more in the S5 FSM. Most of what's on the page is for S4s, which use exhaust back pressure to open the aux. ports. S5s use the air pump.
