S4 Turbo 2 Transmission Prep
What’s up everyone. So I have an S4 Turbo 2 transmission that I need to put back into my FC. What kind of things should I do to prep transmission to place into chassi. Current things I’ve bought already are:
new crossmember
Waiting for delivery of himni racing transmission mounts
Racing beat transmission seals kit
Any info appreciated thanks guys.

- New input and output shaft seals, this may be included in your existing seal kit but I'm not sure what is in that kit.
- New shifter bushing and shifter gasket.
- Check the shifter bottom boot to see if it's cracked (this seals the transmission tunnel). Replace if necessary.
- A quality transmission fluid, such as Neo Synthetics or Redline. This makes a big difference on how your transmission shifts and feels in the car.
- A new pilot bearing and seal (for the eshaft). Use a "blind hole" pilot bearing puller tool. Grease appropriately.
- Check the throwout bearing for smoothness, grease or replace if necessary.
- Check the throwout bearing slide surface is in good shape. Grease or replace if necessary.
- Check the throwout pivot arm is in good shape.
- Check your clutch is in good shape. If replacing clutch, have flywheel resurfaced.
- Check your clutch hydraulics for any leaks.

*Should go without saying, but I would drain the transmission and fill it after it's installed. I'm an FD guy and would second Copeland's suggestions for NEO or Redline. But I'm not arguing with Daniel's experience with the FC transmission.
*If you're going in that deep and you have the flywheel removed, replace the rear main seal with OEM. It's cheap and takes maybe 5 minutes. And then you use the Factory Service Manual specs and re-torque all the tension bolts...which costs nothing but maybe another 5 minutes.
The reason I asked earlier about the use of the car is that Himini has two choices for engine mounts. If it's going to be street driven I would personally stay away from the solid mounts.
